Guarantee Seat

no real question here...but as DM's we are entitled to guaranteed seats on flights (subject to their rules which is typically 24 or 48 hrs before the flight with min booking class of V in economy). This is great for us last minute travelers, but I just can't understand why it can't be done online.

the system should easily be able to apply your guarantee seat to full flights when you log-in online and try to purchase a ticket.

it's not a huge deal to call up e-services, or ticketing when in HKG, but when travelling it's quite a pain.

well...it has taken them almost a decade already to get their booking engine just up to the level of many other airlines in the world...I think it'd be asking too much from them if we want these somewhat "advanced" feature of guarantee seats as well... ;)

Depending on whether the seat guarantee is on simple waitlist clearing, for an overbooked cabin, or for an overbooked flight, it requires different levels of interventions. It may not be easy to be handled on line.

Of course, there is plenty of room for improvement for CX's IT services as well. If done online and it fails, it can be a disaster.

As long as you do not need to get a ticket issued or re-issued, you can call MPC to do seat guarantee.

I remember a few years ago I filled in a survey on what kind of functionality was important online. It included functions like Waitlisting request, and Guaranteed Seat Request.

So at least CX has considered it - don't know if they made the cut.

i'm guessing that they want to keep this as a perk and maybe have the right to remove or withhold this when time comes..at minimum costs.
