If that idiot was that big of a jerk on the ground, why would they want to take off with him on board? They'll then be locked in a metal tube with him for the duration of the flight.

Amazes me that didn't throw his rear-end off the plane, as they should have.

I think I know what may have happened here - I think you've borne witness to 'desperate banker syndrome' - there are so many Hong Kong based Investment Bankers whose banks have gone from all expense spared travel policies to ones more appropriate to their firms' broke status... its been so long since they've been Y that they can't adjust easily. This guy probably spent the night in Chongqing in a four star hotel affraid to eat the food and wondering why the TV isn't flat screen. Then tired and distraught, he's headed for the airport only to be bumped from the earlier flight because his firm now buys DEEPLY DISCOUNTED ECONOMY CLASS tickets. By that stage he probably had to uncurl himself from the foetal position even to make that KA plane and I'm sure was completely horrified at the thought of the Y seat... alas, my Citi, Deutsche Bank, UBS and Morgan Stanley firends are all going through the same thing. They spend the day on expertflyer trying to pick flights with full Y and empty J cabins, where they know their DM status will get them upgraded. They avoid trips at all costs, and call in sick when it looks like there's no other way to avoid that Y class seat or four star in an outter suburb of Beijing.

I hope the financial crisis ends soon... as you have seen, its really hard to watch the agony these guys go through.

I thought these instances were "urban legends"?
Have seen this scenario posted so many times on Flyertalk!

I don't know about others, but this is not the first time I posted this here. I'm sure I have posted this before too while describing the boarding queue problem or DYKWIA attitude...
