So this smart guy from Harvard isn't that smart afterall...

Adelaide_Matthew Apr 18, 2009 11:12 pm

Certainly not if he got the lovely flight crew in trouble!

Oh dear. AAP has picked up the story, it's appearing all over the Australian press. Example from The Age.

OMG, this has gone too far. SCMP is stwepid as flick like always and cannot read into satire or sarcasm.

If anyone has an ounce of humour or has read a few paperbacks in their lives, they'd have realised from that guy's style of writing what's the truth and what's fiction to spice up his TR.

is this really true though ? at least, on a recent short-haul flight, I also saw two ladies in casual clothes going up to the crew rest area of 77A during boarding and didn't come down until after arrival. it's also how I first discovered the door to the crew rest, they actually went up there quite openly during boarding and everyone could see. they certainly didn't seem to be operating crew to me...

The 77A Cockpit Crew rest area is just above F Class (and the door is diagonally opposite 1A). Prob those were off duty crew that went up there, but highly unlikely they are there for the whole flight as I am sure the pilots will be pissed off missing their beauty sleep:D

Prob they were up there for only small period of time.

I got a feeling CharlesMD took the picture at the END of the flight by HIMSELF.

Well, somebody took his portrait for him. Whether he took his girlfriend up there inflight or got up there after landing, he was clearly in the space, which is a rulebreaker. I bet CharlesMD wishes now he'd kept his big mouth shut.

A Grilfriend for him? Now that part might be fictional.:D

If it was on the ground, then it should be OK. It is just like the cockpit crew give you a visit to the cockpit after landing and parked at the gate. Nothing wrong with that.

Actually the cockpit crew took pictures of me before as well in the cockpit while we are on the ground.

well, as I said - it was a short-haul flight, so I guess the pilots didn't really need that space for sleep. so the two ladies were up there pretty much for the whole flight as far as I could tell...

Urmmm - sounds like it might be off duty crew. But there are warning stickers on the door saying they must be trained to use that room.

There are four pilots and two will be in there at a time apart from the breaks between shifts, which will only be about 15 minutes."

May be it took CharlesMD 3 minutes only to finish his job ;)

It is the best he could last with all the booze he had on that flight.

Well, some people do like to take photos of the food they see during their travel. Some are on the aircraft, and some in other places such as the airport lounges.

I often question how people are able to eat so much, or are able to find a way to take pictures of all items listed on a menu...who can eat 3 main entrees? I have a pretty good appetite, but I couldn't eat that much food, even if I didn't eat for a few days prior. Kudos to them for however they do it, but I'm just not sure how they do it.

In regards to Charles, he gives alot of details and shows alot of photos in his reports, dare I say "quite creative". Though, when I see something like this in a report:

Types of passengers JFK-LHR: A family of WASPs: Mommy and daddy WASP (White Anglo-saxon Protestant) were about 60 and must have been very beautiful in their youth—they looked like one of those paintings of the rich benefactors that hang all around Harvard.

It seems a bit immature and takes away from the good intentions of the trip report.

I remember in his trip report, I didn't even see a photo of his gf, not even her stuff (bags etc). He took a video tour of F class and there were basically no other person?

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

yiu Apr 19, 2009 12:53 pm

I was planning to take pics of the cockpit for my next trip after landing, but after this, it seems the chances are slimmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Oh, It is indeed possible, but I am wondering if the ISM assisted in her inflation and that is part of uproar.
