Brand new CX Lounge at ICN's latest Concourse A
January 2009 Turnaround and transit at ICN is really simple. The new Concourse A is even better than before. Just remember that you need to show your itinerary/e-ticket receipt to the agent at the transit checkpoint, you will not be permitted to go to the departure level with the a proper e-ticket receipt. Boarding pass is not required as most transit desks are located after checkpoint, but you need an e-ticket receipt (official one with clear date of departure and flight number). If you are an OW elite or CX MPO and in transit, you can check-in at the lounge and the desk is able to print out boarding passes. If not or you do not want to head to the lounge due to a close connection, you can go straight to the gate of your departure flight for check-in. CX has no transit counters at ICN. just to share my recent experience, i just came back from BKK and the lounge there is quite tiny in my opinion, considering BKK a good point for ppl transferring off to anywhere else or the other way around. No showers, no hot food, just some snacks and sandwiches and the usual drinks.

Hi Steven S,
Yes it is possible... I am doing the same plane turnaround later in May. There are abundant amount of transit counters at Concourse A. The aircraft will take at least an hour to turn it around. So there are times to head to the lounge or the gate for the onward boarding pass. Carfield |
I've been to the new ICN lounge twice now... its very big and airy... but very quiet... I haven't seen more than 3 or 4 passengers in it and it just feels very lonely where it is located... I much prefer being down in the concourse area...

Can somebody confirm if the CX ICN lounge has showers?
TIA. |

If you are in transit at Seoul Korea Incheon Airport and need to relax or sleep, head to one of two "Transfer Passengers Lounges" located on the upper level. Sleeping rooms (day rooms) are available. A single room rates for 6 hours run about US$50. There is also a massage service and shower facility. A shower costs US$6.

There are two Oneworld lounges in ICN (Seoul-Inchon), the CX one and also a JL lounge. I wonder if there are any informed comments as to which of the two is preferable in the early morning, if catching JL flight to NRT? i.e. does one have better food offerings at that time, ambience, etc?

No showers AFAIK but you can shower at ICN airside against a fee anyway.
I did the ICN turaround a few times and used to have a quick shower and massage there during the stop over. |

CX has better food and drink selection IMO. However, JL has massaging chairs and usually has a plate of Dunkin Donuts out, which may sway decisions for the am. Ambience-wise they are similar. They can get crowded just before departure but usually not too bad. Because of the issues of both not consistently being open at the same time, I usually opt for whichever carrier I'm departing on. |

I suspect not but not sure how the HKG checkin agent views luggage returning to HKG. In which case if I don't already have my return BP, do I collect this from any of the transit counters or lounge or the gate itself? 2. My proposed flight is early July 2011 for which I assume the schedule has not been truly finalised just yet. Does that mean that until the schedule is finalised that there is much greater chance of aircraft schedule changes? When would the schedule be finalised? 3. Could I travel HKG-ICN-HKG-xNRT? I don't mind spending a night in a HKG airport hotel if necessary but much rather continue onto Japan that night if possible all in the one go. Thanks, GM. |
