yiu if you really need a seat assignment, you can go to the cx office in YYZ, it's in downtown toronto on yonge, and between queen and king. the people there are really nice. that's how i got my bulkhead seat for this leg (mind you i didn't have any kind of status with cx when i booked this ticket/seat) but being a SL, you probably can call.

No need to get stuck in traffic and spend time commuting/driving to an airline office just to get seat assignments especially if one is MPO. Drop by only if you work/live nearby or happen to be in the area. And we're at this time of year in Toronto where I prefer not to drive a lot in distances.

Took 11D yesterday on 888. The extra counter space was great for putting my CPAP. Managed to sleep almost 6 hours.^

(even all F class is full on jan 5, the day i'm flying, so an idea of how full it really is.) all classes are overbooked, and according to what i last heard from a cx booking office at YYZ right before i left, jan 1-13 is packed for Y. but i definitely agree with you. i'd love to see extra flights being put in during the high seasons for student travels from yyz to hkg and vice versa.

Question on that - I've been checking expertflyer for my trip (jfk-hkg on 12/28, hkg-lax on 1/9) and it had shown availability in all classes up until this morning, then switched to no availability. Are these last minute purchases or just inaccurate info EF has?

Personally, I've always believed that CX does some very proactive management (read manipulation) with availabillity listings.

Remember that these numbers reflect the number of seats the airline is willing to sell through a reservation system at any point in time. EF polls specific reservation systems for these numbers. It does not have access to CX's own system. So EF has no idea what the loads are, or how many seats CX will sell itself (but not through a travel agent). I have noticed that CX zeroes out when it starts the load-balancing (op-up) process. And CX has almost always called me the day before an F flight, to reconfirm my plans to take that flight (so they have good load projection data). But this is only in the last few hours and not even the previous day before a flight (at least when I've noticed).

I'm going to give CX another shot with the new J later this month on the YYZ route after a horrendous experience with the seat on the 74A back in June. Would also be the first time I'll be able to sample it on the 77A as previously, I have only sat in F for the 77A. But at least this time I'll be more prepared and have a general idea of what I'll be getting, having sat on it before on the 74A.

Just did HKG-JFK-HKG on a 77A in J and F. This was also first time I did long haul in the new J (lots of prior trips in new F). I have to say, it is not bad at all. It is not perfect, I would take it over the old seat 100% of the time, and could see myself preferring it even to old F seat (better IFE basically. I love the new IFE system and screen). I had previously avoided new J on long haul flights and either flown F on the new planes, or explored other airlines, but now can see myself doing CX long haul more in J and less in F.
(As I was reminded today, the CX F food is basically crap right now. Even the jasmine tea tasted like they had downgraded from what they were previously serving. I have had better food on SQ in J on regional flights.)

Hi all, sorry for replying to such an old post, but I had no luck finding a picture of the 77A mini cabin on this site and also airliners.net. Do you have any to share?

Appreciated it :)

Here is a pic of the 77A mini-cabin http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.p...220680&nseq=41

You should try JetPhotos.Net, it is very good.

Here in another onehttp://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemil...009/03/039.jpg

If you don't know any websites with cabin photos, you can just search them in goggle.:D

thanks flyCX77W, the links worked so great
it seems to me row 12 is pretty crappy, but are seats 11A-K a great idea for 4 person travelling together? What if the passsenger at 11A wants to talk to 11K? how to approach?

77A Best Seats?

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was a consensus about the best economy seats on the 77A? The OP noted that 31K was good, if cold. What other seats are considered good? E.g. what about 30DEG, or the seats in rows 54 and 55? Seatguru marks these as "mixed review," and I never know what to make of that.

I will be flying JFK-HKG for the first time on CX and am very keen on finding a good seat. (Long-time AA flyer, looking forward to first CX experience).

Thanks so much!

Jody

i had considerable amount of experience in Row 30 and 31.
31 C and H suffer from the traffic to the lavatory (quite a bit) and A K have their sight blocked by the exit. 31 B and J are great but you will be between two people which myself don't like such scenes.
30 DEG can be noisy as it is just right next to the lavatory (and also the baby bassinet), they also has less leg room than seat in row 31.
Any of the seat from row 30 and 31 are better than the rest of the Y seats, but if I am given the chance, I will pick one from row 31.

Row 30/31 will be extremely cold, I had my own blanket with me last time since the blanket by CX are not good. I also had a big bag as a foot rest, lol

by the way, row 54 and 55 will suffer from the light from the galley a lot.

Also please check out this link, since sometimes seatexpert has better seat maps
http://seatexpert.com/seatmap/106/Ca..._three_class)/

Do you travel a lot between BOS/SFO on AA? I am sure CX will give you a way better experience than the crappy services provided by old crews on old AA planes.
As an AA Plat, you may try to call them up and reserve a seat before the online system open

For four person traveling together, the best option is separate to 2 rows but same side like 11AD and 12AD. If you're in A and want to talk to K, you have to walk all the way over to the other side through the gallery. If you don't like row 12, just pick any 2 rows in the main J cabin.

Actually , im not looking for a spacious seat but just need a good seat to take pictures and videos.

I thought of 37K-40K near the end of the wing.
Anyone sat there or somewhere near before please share your views please :)

Thank you !!

:D Mini-cabin it is. (Can't afford to fly in F. Have to slum it in J. )

BTW, are you the same as MrPickles? (If you don't know what I'm referring to, then nm.)
