Converting CX to AA miles?

Hi,

Quick question: My dad only has about 7.5K miles left on Cathay Pacific and has since retired and doesn't plan on taking any more trips with them. These miles are not enough to donate, so I was wondering if he could "gift" them to my AAdvantage account, since they are both oneWorld? I have searched both airline's sites and points.com and don't see a way to do this. I also searched this forum and couldn't find a question similar to this. Just wondering if anyone knows any secrets to do this?

Thanks,

Alan

Because there is no way.

http://www.webflyer.com/programs/mileage_converter/

This is a comprehensive list and CX is not listed.

similar question... hoping it is not same answer
I have about 8K Asia miles - but am a 100K gold Advantage member. I have no use for the 8K miles. I do fly Cathay, but for the most part, I credit my travel to AA. Is there any way to transfer these 8K Asia Miles, and use them gainfully elsewhere?

If no way, anu suggestions on what I could do with teh 8K which is set to expire Dec 2009...

Thanks

Points.com will let you convert Asia Miles to AA, but you won't like the exchange rate. IIRC it offered me 40k of AA for my 180k of Asia Miles.

Welcome to FlyerTalk and the Cathay Pacific forum !

For 8K and as a US member, you may try opting for well, 2 of Asiamiles' other awards. See : http://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/redee...nsearch=Search

Or similarly you may opt to donate your miles to the various charities that Asiamiles has : http://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/redeem/miles/donate

Every little bit helps. If you can't use it - someone else can!
