Probably too early to ask yet but does anyone know if they weigh carry on at DUS?
|
It seems their practice somewhat varies from locations. My trip from TPE yesterday there were passengers in economy clearly carrying seriously oversized cabin suitcases they would never fit in the rack. One of those looks so heavy the men struggled to put it in overhead. And there were occasions where the process us so stringent that 1.0kg over is like a crime. It’s very frustrating when you have to pay for extra and some don't.

At boarding, I sometimes hear announcements asking for people with overweight/oversize baggages to check them in at the gate. I wonder if they are charged or the bags are checked simply to make space in the overhead lockers for others. |

I have never had to pay extra myself by packing in accordance with my allowance, but I find it somewhat annoying that there are always 1 or 2 sitting around you who are not capable of lifting their 15kg suitcases/bags into/from the overhead lockers, and who ask/demand you to lift it into/from the overhead lockers for them.
I am always more than happy to offer a willing hand at any other occasion. |

Honestly I would leave them to it and whisper loud enough to get other passengers and FA's attention. It really pisses me off they get away with it.

I wish I could do the same and say no, but it is difficult to turn down as people who ask for help are normally those who has less strength/muscle power (elderly, ladies who are more petite than average...).
"oh, it's overweight, oh well, someone will lift it for me" |

To me that is even more reason why they shouldn't be taking an overweight carry-on.
