LAX to HKG in J - pyjamas ?

Hi

I am flying on the overnight from LAX to HKG this weekend, and was wondering whether CX provides pyjamas, or whether I need to take my Qantas pjs in my cabin luggage ?

Thanks in advance.

No PJs in J.

you dont normally get pj's in J, but if you are a OW Emrald and the ISM does come over to welcome you, then of course you could request her for a set and I'm sure she'll give it. CX generally treats OW members very well......

I'm not sure I agree with that - they meet requests from DM/OWE in lower classes where it can be done discreetly (a glass of J/F wine in a plastic cup, for example) but giving you PJs that you then change into would hardly be discreet and would likely cause other passengers to request them, putting the ISM in a difficult position. If you feel the need for PJs (very rare to see someone wearing any in J, but I have seen it once or twice) then I'd say take your own.

I concur with christep. Generally CX is not very lenient with giving out extra amenity packs etc.

I also concur with christep. There is no real use of PJs in Y and J. Saying that, I once saw a passenger in J in a Shanghai Tang PJ. However, I do not believe he got that on that flight. I also do not feel comfortable wearing a PJ in such a tight and crowded space.

one would look pretty stupid wearing PJ's in J or even Y

I usually pack a pair of tracksuit bottoms or something similar to change into so that I'm more comfortable sitting down. Better than wearing jeans or trousers for a long time.

Just did Toronto-HKG in J with CX.
No pyjamas but we brought our own, and there is certainly nothing "wrong" with that and comment about people looking "stupid" (above) is ridiculous and unhelpful.
The food was, let's say, "so-so". Quality did not seem great.
Service was excellent.

Yea, CX J food.."so so" is sometimes being generous. Boring? Bland? Strange? Mushy? I find myself using these adjectives often to describe CX J food. Not F, not Y, just J. I understand where it's coming from...I personally don't think J should be regarded as a truly premium product, just a much bigger seat and a comfy (as opposed to a dreadful) ride from place A to B. F is for premium. But then the food I suppose gets trapped in the middle...can't serve the plain old grilled cheese (a synonym for all that comfort food, wherever you're from) because that'd be too bourgeoisie, but can't splurge on really good ingredients because come on..it's only J. So stuck in the middle and pax lose out!

Agreed!
How much smoked salmon and "antipasto" (translation: a ball of dry mozzerella, a tomato, and maybe an olive) can someone take? They need to come up with something new.
The main was really sad - "kung po shrimp" - not really Chinese at all, just 3 shrimp in TOMATO sauce with rice and soggy greens - dreadful. Westernized "Chinese" food is disgusting.
They seem to do food in F well, usually, but on our flight TPE-NRT in F they served the EXACT SAME appetizer and dessert as on the same routing last year - something called a "sugar coated pudding with cherries" - also very poor.

yes, SPs will need to do a stock count on amentities, PJs given out and record down afaik..so they dun really give out for free, i guess..

but my friend CX DM on Y class asked for the agnes b amentity kit, ISM did give her..

That is less expensive than the PJ, and can be used even if you are in Y. I doubt about PJ in Y.

I'm not sure about looking silly in PJs in a J cabin. Virgin have a pretty similar herringbone layout, just with a different name forn the cabin, they happily hand out PJs and most people wear them. That said, the comment that it's rare to see anyone wearing them in J on CX is absolutely right, I've only seen it once, so perhaps there's something to it after all :-)

I have nothing against people wearing pyjamas in whatever class they want to. However I find it interesting that some people think they can only wear airline clothes when flying on an airline. For example I often see people wearing BA F class pjs on cx. As a fashion item, they are pretty ugly (which I also think is the case for cx pjs but this is subjective of course). But you can only come to the conclusion that people want to show off that they have flown in F class before and they probably exhibit a similar attitude when dealing with cabin crew.
