Help about CX codeshare flight seat assignment
Hi,
Moderators. Please keep this in CX fourm.
I have the following booking ticketed by CX.
CX7565 ORD-LAX operated by AA607
CX881 LAX-HKG
CX460 HKG-TPE
CX469 TPE-HKG
CX882 HKG-LAX
AA1546 LAX-ORD
All H fare, so I can earn AA miles.
I am AA PLT. I have issue for seat assignment for first and last segment.
CX said I need to call AA for seat assignment.
AA said this is ticketed by CX, AA can not touch the booking.
Does there anyone have the same experience?
Thanks

I got the record locator from CX for AA segment.
I tried to pull my PNR at AA.com.
And this is what I got.
We're unable to display the requested reservation. Please contact the ticketing airline.

1. Who booked the res for you? If your agent, then he/she should be able to do seat selection for you.
2. The flight in particular , CX7565, is actually AA607. CX cannot display the seat map on their system, whereas AA can. You can call AA to find out what seats are available, then call CX to request that particular seat on CX7565 since CX cannot display the seat map. But they may request for a particular seat without displaying the seat map.
3. If all else fails, do a generic seat request - ie window or aisle through CX.
By the way, if you're hoping to use AA 'stickers' to upgrade the ORD-LAX flight to F class, well you can't as it's a CX flight and not on AA document anymore.
I really don't see why you couldn't have booked ORD-LAX on AA, it would have been so much easier overall.
As an AA Plat anyway, once ticketing is done, you may also get seat assignment on CX flights.

1) I called CX reservation to book this flight. Not regular TA. I called CX twice. They said that I can not pick seat on AA flight. They did ask me to call AA.
2) I will try calling CX again about this.
3) Maybe this is a good idea.

I avoid codeshare as much as I can. There is often uncertainty about how I am treated and whether I get the miles or bonus miles (if applicable).
I do not even do code share between CX and KA. If it is a KA-operated flight, I book on KA flight number, and CX-operated flight on CX flight number.

A CX agent told me once if they had to bump people off a flight due to overbooking, they would never do it to code-share ticketed pax. Not sure exactly why but it kind of make sense as it would be difficult to accomodate them on alternative flights (revenue arrangement?).
