Airlines & logic don't compute.....
I need to vent a little (ok, we are only talking 988 miles).
Did a trip to South Africa and flew QF into JNB and then onwards with BA to CPT (with BA flight number). Miles posted, no problem.
On the return I was flying CPT-JNB-HKG and my secretary booked me on CX6710 (also known as BA6406) and then onwards with CX to HKG. HKG sold the through itinerary with CX flight numbers.
Mileage for CX6710 did not post so I filed a missing mileage request which was promptly rejected with the reasoning that miles cannot be earned on that flight. I called MPC and was told that was correct but if I had booked it under the BA flight number I would have been entitled to the miles!! I had tried putting in CX from CPT to JNB on the Asia Miles mileage calculator and that was fine. MPC told me the Mileage Calculator is only indicative. I asked whether it was written anywhere that this flight does not get miles, the agent answered no but they are quite happy to give me this information beforehand if I call. At this point I took my leave before I blew a gasket!
So, I did the logical thing and book through on CX and get royally scr**ed.
Any logic here? Is there any written indication anywhere that this flight is not eligible to accrue miles (if there is I will put a sock in it)? Or have I missed the mice type somewhere?

What class was the flight booked in?
Having said that I see no exemptions in the CX documentation - all flights marketed by CX (in booking classes FAJCDIYBHKMLV) should get Asiamiles. If operated by a OW airline or OW affiliate airline then they also get Club Miles.
I would write and ask for further clarification.

Booked in J.
I found this in the Asia Miles Programme T&C and I guess it's tantamount to a "Get out of Jail Free" card:
"CPLP and/or all partners may exclude specific flights from the crediting of mileage credits with or without notice to a member."

I would still get written confirmation, and ask them to confirm the complete current list of excluded flights at the same time so I would know not to book them. I find it very bizarre that a flight booked under a BA code could be eligible but not the same flight booked under a CX code.
