Not to sound bitter against QF, but they don't ALWAYS extend baggage benefits to Oneworld members like CX. eg. Priority baggage!

For checked luggage I agree with you, however, for carry on bags they are quite strict. This is an HKG thing and not an airline thing though. CX are generally good about giving the heavy tags, but I have been forced to check a rollaboard before.

As a Diamond I have never had an instant's quibbling about getting an orange tag for carry ons at HKG. I haven't tried anything outrageous, but I have certainly had 20kg wheelies tagged with no problem.

Just a quick note when you use first class check in in Term1 on BA using your MPo Diamond card they did not queston the extra baggage I had yesterday. They also explained that they do not tag it as it goes down on the belt to priority so tags are not required!

Cheers

Which unfortunately is a little white lie to pacify passengers. I find that if a tag exists, I have a much higher chance of my bag getting priority treatment. No tag means 100% chance of not being priority, especially if the bag is connecting across several flights or carriers.

You bitter? :p

No, they don't always give it out, but they do more often than not. Again I have to stress it is not a defined benefit so if they do it be gracious, if they don't remind yourself that your not entitled to it.

BA always says that at LHR, the special area gets special priority... but if that bag falls off the baggage cart enroute to aircraft, how would the baggage handlers know that it came from a F or J class passenger?

On all my flights from LHR to YVR, not once has a bag checked in with 'special' baggage handling but without tags ever come off first and fast...

But if it's tagged from say, CDG connecting in LHR with a "SHORT CONNECTION" and PRIORITY tag, the bags do come off first. Trouble is , not every BA check -in agent is versed enough to actually be motivated enough to tag a F or J class premium passenger's bag.

One of trips from CDG last year in F (C from CDG of course), the agent almost didn't want to tag my bags priority because she didn't have any tags and was too lazy to go get some from the main service BA desk. It was only my insistence that she finally did so... but really, by comparison, to say CX, who'd go out of their way to make sure your bags come up as Priority is alarmingly shocking!

This is one of the best thing about flying CX. The speed of F/J luggage is very good. As well as the F lounge in HKG :D
