Diamond Plus

so the new 'specials ' are what ?
before in F we used to get a free CX hand carry luggage bag, limo to and from airports at both ends etc
If you are flying F all the time to be eligible monetarily for Diamond + what more can they offer you - upgrade to where - maybe on a 380 to a double cabin but then you have to change to SQ ?

If a person has to flying full fare F between HKG and JFK nine times a year to get DMP, I don't think upgrade or first class benefits are important. However, I am sure that they got much more than the published benefits, I suppose CX will have special considerations for his/her family members or traveling companions.

In regards to the four benefits:
1. Nomination of one companion to Diamond tier - That is useful. Even a companion GO will be good.
2. Access to Cathay Pacific First Class lounges regardless which airline they are flying - I prefer allowing more traveling companions in rather than accesses to the F lounges.
3. Access to the dedicated Diamond Plus Service Team at the Club Service Hotline. Members will dial the same Club hotline number but will be automatically re-routed for express handling - Wait time for Diamond members is already negligible. The problem is more with engaged tone, but a high tier level will not help in such a case.
4. Exclusive special gifts and offers - We also receive annual gifts, but I suppose those for DMP are much better. After all, CX must try very hard to make them feel very important.

I don't think I can ever make it to DMP, but certainly I would like to know more too.

Is the membership card of DMP with shining shark fin????

DMP is a dream for me and I am very satisfactory with the service as a DMM (DM-,the bottom of 1% in terms DM revneue).:D

I may even fail to keep my DMM status this year.

I've seen the how all the different membership cards at the F side of The Wing, the DMP card looks even better than the IN card - the shark fin really shines like a mirror, while the IN card simply looks like a DM card with "Invitation" in italics under big MPO/CX logo.

Forget that, being a Y flyer, there's no way I'd even get to DMM! DM/DM+ is just something I can hear about, but never really experience. I'm not too fussed though; I get treated well enough as Gold.

Is the shark's fin some sort of reference to the shark's fin soup, and how it is perceived to be a luxury / delicacy?

Although I may be coming across as overly sensitive, if that is the case, then the shark's fin smacks of tackiness and poor taste.

If it's not why shark's fin is used on the card, then just ignore this post :)

It's clearly not a shark's fin, it's a birds wing.

You probably are not aware that CX is called the Shark Fin Airline because of this logo. When I talk with CX FAs, I simply refer to their airline as Shark Fin (but have to say in Cantonese "yu chee" for them to recognise) and they are receptive to that.:D

christep Jan 15, 2008 1:20 am

Only in Cantonese then - I've never heard it called that before in English. And the logo clearly isn't a shark's fin, so it's a strange thing to call it.
