cx first and hot chocolate

my father just returned on a cx f flight, hkg-lax and brought my little brother (15) along with him. after dinner my brother asked the FA for some hot chocolate before he went to bed, she told him that they did not have any hot chocolate on board, he replied but i really want some.

she said let me see what i can do, my father heard what my brother said and told him no meant no. so he went back to tell her that it was ok and not to worry about it when he saw her breaking up a chocolate bar to make chocolate powder and use in the hot chocolate.

way to go cx. i think my brother wont fly any thing else now but cx first, i told him to keep dreaming....

OK, terrific.

Thanks to the FA, making CX one of the world leading airline. Go CX!! :D

Whilst the actions the FA took is highly commendable, I find it extremely amusing that 15 year old will insist on his desire when it was already refused once.

Great effort by that FA!

My CX F beverage menus from summer 04 had hot chocolate available as an option. Why would they put it on there if they don't stock it?

Cutbacks?

Even J class has hot chocolate... so I am relly curious as to why this is happening...

i guess this explains why they went ahead and did it, they must have been out of the powder/syrup they use and made up for it in the way that they did

didn't we just have people on this board who most probably were mature adults insiting on getting caviar that was not on the plane :D
how many 15 year olds do you know that take no for an answer?

On the topic of hot beverages. What is it about CX and their refusal to serve them while the seat belt sign is on? I recall Singapore does the same. I know safety, but the rest of the carriers are not that concerned unless there is some heavy bouncing and the FA's have been asked to sit by the pilot.

THAT is always very annoying, especially as when the seatbelt sign pings on it usually stays on for a half-hour at least.

I wonder what that cup of hot chocolate tasted like

It seems a bit disgusting.

Perhaps you would care to expand on that. Was the kid supposed to go through some respect his elders bs dance. I want hot choc - now go get me some. Most people call this precocious it that word is not a pejorative.

I doubt it's cost-cutting measure though. How much does it really cost to load a pack of chocolate powder, heat the milk and serve? Even a $40 motel I stayed at will offer hot chocolate powder, and yet CX F-class can't afford it???

Not to mention pack of powder would definitely cost less than all those chocolate bars consumed in the process. I guess they just ran out for that flight.

On the contrary, it is actually quite delicious. In France, I have seen cafes break pieces of chocolate into a pot and pour steaming hot milk over it. It's quite decadant, especially with a dollop of Chantilly. Try Angelina (rue de Rivoli) or Dalloyau.

It's actually the powdery stuff in America that's disgusting. Swiss Miss is an insult to the Federation.
