How can I access A class on CX?

I am flying to HK and further coming weekend. I am booked in J on CX 839 (YVR-HKG) and CX 701 (HKG-BKK) but see that A is available as well. How do I access A class so i can get upgraded to F? The TA I talked to said that they can only access A if I do a full RT on CX vs. just 2 segments. True? Any TAs out there that can help me and want my business... My itin is:
EWR-SEA-YVR-HKG all on 9/25
HKG-BKK-DEL on 9/30

Actually I think you are confused?

Do you mean you have a J Class ticket and want to Upgrade (using miles) to First Class. If so, the award class for that is Z Class.
A Class is a Revenue First Class cose (it is used for AONEX and also other discounted F Class).

Please Clarify

Actually not confused (for a change...). Want to buy, not upgrade using miles, A class as a discounted F class ticket. Idea is to fly F for fare that's very close or equal to J fare

OIC.
That makes it clearer.
Just goto YVR's Chinatown and but a discounted F Class fare from those agent. (Pref find one that is reputable).

However if you have ticketed your J Class ticket, you better check the conditions and see whether it is refundable or exchangeable?

Not all discounted F fares are issued in A class. Some are issued in F class.

"A" class is usually reserved for RTW fares. Yes, best is to ask your travel agent to check for discounted F class fares out of YVR. But that said, there usually aren't any discounts I know of which are Oneway to destination, and I see that you're not originating from YVR but rather from EWR! Why not do JFK-HKG?

But you may ask your TA to check with the local CX sales office - and also depending on how much clout your TA has to see what can be done...ie upg to F based on your full J ticket. BUT DON'T EXPECT anything...

I was on a full J ticket from YVR to HKG to BKK once and I'm Diamond, and because the flight was not full, CX in YVR won't even consider that!

Just our infor... what is the based fare you paid for your entire ticket? Then I'll know if you paid full fare or not... Is it around US$4300 one way?
