To make it simple, the latter the letter comes up in the subclass list, the more conditions that ticket carry and the less the ticket cost.

There should be more subclasses for CX Economy class.

Y / B / H / K / M / L / V / S / N / Q / O

All you need to ask is for a fare that earns you Asiamiles because there are fares that do not earn Asiamiles.

Usually there are fixed subclass codes associated with specific fare type.

I do not see why you want to request for specific subclass, there are no difference in terms of miles accural.

Unless of course, you intend to change dates, then the subclass hierarchy might become of a concern.

Y = full fare most expensive,
and as list goes on, cheaper fare, but more restrictions

I am curious to know why you want your travel agent to book you in a particular subclass? Is there a reason behind this rather than just the eligibility of Asia Miles miles?

Not sure if that's the case here, but one possible reason might be to increase the chances of getting a seat on a heavily booked flight. We've just shifted our waitlisting from M class to K class in order to get onto a very full flight to Rome.

And not mileage accruing.

So you have to ask your travel agent you want an 'upsell' to a class that earns you miles.

GB: Small technicality, I know, but surely it's "buy-up" rather than "upsell"? After all, he's the ticket buyer, not the T/A (who will be doing the upselling) Sorry to be pedantic
