Cathay Pacific First Class
Anyone have any opinions of the best seats in First on the 747-400? We are a couple traveling, but don't like the inside seats.
|
This is an airline specific question so I am transferring it to where it belongs, the Cathay forum. Thanks!

This has bene asked many times on this forum. Doing a search will provide you with all the information you could possibly want on CX F seating or any other aspect of the service.
In the 747-400, if you do not want middle seats, the only other vialbe option is Row 1. The seats there, although not next to each other, are somewhat close and would allow for some type of a shared experience. That said, the seats are generally considered too far apart to allow for normal conversation. Rows 3 and 4 would not work at all, as the center seats get in the way of the window seats. Row 2 is way too far apart to allow any type of shared experience or conversation. If I was traveling with someone and wanted to sit with or converse with them, I would go for the center seats in Row 3, with the Row 4 seats as my second choice. Unfortunately, unlike British Airways or American, CX's F seats do not feature a stool with a seatbelt that would allow for two people to dine at the same table. |
I guess what I wanted to know was best seating, period. We have been on CX First before in 4G and 4 K but each like to travel in outside seats. We have been allocated 1A and 1K - but I don't want people going in and out of the closet -
P. S. Doing a search has turned up very little that relates to my question. |
See my response to your question in the other thread.
There is no closet in CX F (at least not up front). Based on your needs, 1A and 1K are your best bets. |

I myself am partial to 2A or 2K when traveling alone. When I don't need to sleep, I prefer 4A or 4K for its ample workspace. When the cabin is half empty, I usually take one of the D or G seats where the A or K seat next to it is empty. That way, I can have a sleeping suite (A or K) and a dining suite (D or G). Caution: make sure the gracious FAs don't mind you doing this. |

I'm not a CX FF but sometimes check this forum as occasionally I fly them.
Why is it that this forum so often strikes me as unfriendly? Go ahead - flame me :D |

There have indeed been a number of threads about this before. Nevertheless, having done four legs with different seat combinations, my wife I and found
- 1A+K great, no closet=no traffic, easy to talk to each other - 4G+K reasonable, particularly for 4K who has an enormous "window shelf" space - 3D+G still OK if nothing else is available - 2A+K the absolute winner, with an extremely spacious feeling, lots of privacy but a direct eye contact to your partner. You'll have time to talk to each other afterwards ;) |
