14hr Layover at HK - what to do?

With stuff going on, I booked on CX. Fares had gone up.
My booking would involve arriving in the early morning and leaving 8pm.
What can I do?
Does CX offer a local ride?

US passengers need visa to leave the airport?

Any other tips?

no need visa.. Take the airport express out to town, walk around a bit.. grab breakfast, lunch, etc... Just like what anyone might do in a big international city for a few hours anywhere in the world..

Will the airport express take credit card?

Also considering getting lounge - unsure which one has shower facility?
Will I able to buy lounge access with Miles/Points?

Yes, you can pay with credit card for airport express. Can also buy ticket online at a discount beforehand via trip.com, klook, etc..

For lounge access, what class are you flying? Any oneworld status? There is also a free shower facility in the arrivals area before immigration.

Plenty of info in this group.. just search the threads...

FYI and FWIW, we put together this guide to a HK stopover a while back, has a lot of good recommendations from which you may like to pick and choose to suit your interests and itinerary: https://www.executivetraveller.com/h...stopover-guide

Early morning is a great time just to wander around HK and maybe take the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak, and for added tourist points ride the tram along the Island and also do the Star Ferry across the harbour,

For lunch my simple go-to is Joy Hing Roasted Meat at Wan Chai (just off the corner of Stewart Rd and Hennessy Rd) - grab BBQ pork 'char siu', steamed rice and greens (usually gai lang).

You could pull this together with morning and early arvo on the island, tram back up the island to the Star Ferry ferry terminal so you can hop across to Kowloon, and from there make your way to Kowloon Station to catch the Airport Express back to the city... just allow plenty of 'buffer time' for all this because the last thing you want to do is end up rushing and being in a panic to get back to the station and the airport instead of relaxing and enjoying this wonderful opportunity!

There is a left luggage office landside after customs iirc

Note that apart from the free showers mentioned above, the lounges at HKG are in the departures area, and you cannot, in general, access those lounges and then exit to Hong Kong. Once you are in the departures area (i.e. after going through transit security) you must, in general, depart by air.

So you should not go to those lounges on arrival?
Is there a lounge near arrival - i heard there is a compl. shower available on arrival before immigration etc.
