goal is to open on the 22nd of April per an internal source involved on the project, they will communicate once they are sure they can open on that date

Any predicted closing date of The Wing J yet?

djsflynn Mar 9, 2026 8:13 pm

"Late April" aligns with what I have heard. As for The Wing Business closing, I've not heard a specific date but can't imagine it will be too far behind The Wing First opening, so perhaps start of May?

(Pure speculation) Given how the Wing F closes shortly after opening of the Bridge, time to reset the Deck to J class lounge and Labour Day holiday in china, I would assume it starts in May/June rather than immediately in April?

Ah yes, one of China's Golden Weeks is May 1-5... that makes sense, then, to keep The Wing Business open for at least that first week of May. I'm sure all will soon be revealed :)

Isn't oneworld Emerald status earned by reaching CX Diamond status? How can earning one be harder than the other if they're achieved simultaneously?

Non-CX OWE status is easier than DM https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/37249866-post1329.html

Care to provide some background data to support that claim? Sure, there are 15 oneworld airlines operating 15 different award programs, each with their own little kinks and quirks, but I would assert that for the vast majority of flyers only the program affiliated with their home town airline makes any practical sense. Like as a US resident why would I join an awards program based in Morocco or Malaysia where I've never been and probably never will be? Sure I fly CX or QF on occasion but I assume their respective awards programs are geared towards flyers who use them regularly / predominantly. Am I wrong?
Not sure how that linked post relates to oneworld award programs?

It very much depends on what each frequent flyer is looking for (Ease of reaching Sapphire? Ease of reaching Emerald? Lounge access? Priority upgrades? Partner cards? Ease of miles accumulation? Ease of miles redemptions? etc etc) and their flying pattern (Hub-and-spoke with most travel from one airport? Complex routings and/or multiple "home" airports? etc). But I'd say that - for a large portion of the frequent flyer world - you are probably wrong, or at least not right per se.

I can't comment on Royal Maroc as it's a new member of the Oneworld family, but the Malaysia Airlines scheme for example is an excellent one for anyone who's trying to mimic and game a system that's not too far off from the old BAEC programme, especially if you're trying to get hold of a partner card... so someone might be UK-based but clock points onto Malaysia Airlines' scheme, or Finnair, or Qatar or whatever.

Thanks for your insight. I will have to study those aspects some more to really understand all available options. There's always more to learn :)

Is there a forum or thread dedicated to comparison shopping between the various oneworld award programs?

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onew...help-here.html will be the right place for your question in my opinion.

I find it amazing / astonishing / incomprehensible that the highest tier elites are regularly referred to as "plebs" in this thread. Wouldn't that term be more appropriate for Asia Miles Green members?
