Hello all,

Its been a while since transitting through HKG.

Our itenerary is KUL-HKG (CX 730 A321) and then HKG-LHR (CX253 B77W) all in one ticket next week.

As I understand, most CX A321 dock at the North Satellite concourse (G13-22).

We have 1hr 10 mins before our flight to LHR, is this going to be enough? Is there security facility at the NSC or will we have to take a bus to the main terminal?

Thank you all!

if ir transfer is short, when u leave the plane a CX Staff will wait for u and escort u fast through security and to ur gate. They will wait with signs with the name of the next destination

You have plenty of time. There is a scenic but utterly irritating bridge now to those gates. A backpack will serve you better than wheels to move fast as there are 6 escalators to navigate. It adds about 10 mins to a standard walk between gates.

(As someone who sees the escort staff (or "co-runners" in Cantonese) but does not transit in HK) it'll be so cool if escort staff come with riding crops to "reinvigorate" passengers into moving faster?

They can offer buggies https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35921131-post19.html or even carry your bags (or even carry your rollaboard https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/36324753-post111.html , but what's the fun of that?

I think the problem with those gates is that how is a buggie going to help? Frankly, the bus was faster if you timed it right! For those unable to unwilling to walk up/down the escalators, it really can add to the transit time!

Does anyone have updates on the status quo of there secondary transit points.

AFAIK Transit Point gate 62 is closed(what a bummer) for refurbishment until the new year. Has anyone tried the one opposite gate 43?

Just went through the one near gate 27 at 10:30am today. Almost no wait at all.

Went through it on 22 November and it was super quick (and empty).

Haven't been to HKG in over 10 years, so please excuse my question.
Next month I'll be flying into HKG on either EK or CX (tbd) and connecting to a CX flight. Separate tickets, carry on only.
Can someone advise the easiest way to check into my connecting CX flight (if I'm unable to get online BP) airside? Or will I need to enter Hong Kong?

Very easy. No need to enter HK. There are multiple transit areas (which, practically at hkia, represents a pathway with security and a doc check from downstairs (arrivals) to upstairs (departures)), but you’ll need to visit one of the two big ones: W1 or E (I can’t remember if the CX desks at E are near E1 or E2. I think E2?). There are airlines desks and CX staff at both of these transit points and they can help you on your way. E1 and E2 are very close to one another fyi so that’s not a huge deal.

W stands for West and E for East.

E1 was closed when I transited at HKG in Sep. I reckon. Happy to see it was re-opened when I passed by a couple of days ago. They now say it is okay to keep my laptop in the bag! I don't know if this is E1-specific or rolled out to other transit points at HKG. It does make things easier.

Just to update everyone and apologies for the very late update!

An agent met us when we landed in HKG (Gate 17). We did miss the flight to LHR and was rebooked on CX251 the same evening with a meal voucher at the Regal Hotel. We didn't use them as we went to the City and had lunch there instead and ate in the Pier First for dinner instead of the hotel. Top notch service from CX as always.

Was your incoming flight delayed by more than a bit?

Landed 20 mins late, had a lengthy taxi to the gate too. We were at the gate just as boarding for CX 253 was being wrapped up (according to the agent). It was a blessing in disguise I guess as we didn't really feel like rushing and it was a bit of a trek from Gate 17 all the way to Gate 65

This is a pretty permanent feature now that the 3rd runway is in use. If you land out there when the middle runway is in use then you can often have a 15-30 minute taxi to the gate. I'm surprised CX (and other airlines) haven't adjusted MCT to reflect this.
