i was a bit busy with work after christmas holiday but here are the cake pics from my trip for those interested

ex-LAX Christmas flight, I requested Merry Christmas on the cake message, but they gave me Happy Birthday instead haha. The crew saw my previous cake pics and wanted to get into spirit too. Fun and memorable! A+ for effort

My new NYE tradition also...

HKDL winter holidays drone show before my NYE HKG->LAX flight

ex-HKG, cake was smaller one this time. Message I tried going for this flight was Happy New Year x2 (since i was trying to celebrate NYE twice)

Landed 9pm-ish at LAX and made it to Disneyland (Anaheim) by 11:15pm with plenty of time before NYE countdown (super rainy day)

I hope to convince CX one day to start a NYE tradition where the CX 880 flight will be timed to see fireworks after take off (either Victoria Harbour or HKDL one)...and then book-ending this flight with two Disney park visits could be very viral and fun.

(might want to blur out the faces of your lovely cabin crew since this forum is publicly accessible but)
got to admire their enthusiasm and festive spirit, must have been a fun flight!

looks like a lot of cream on top all of the cakes - any reviews regarding how they taste?

Standard fruit cream cake, no complaints on taste...I had a slice and it was good

FWIW, flights do not fly within certain distance (horizontal and vertical) from active fireworks activities.

Can I buy a cake for a SO travelling without me if I have their PNR?

i have ordered a cake and surprised someone in my redemption group before when I wasn't flying with them so I assume yes?

After taking a picture for social media, I usually only eat a slice of the cake to see what kind of cake it is (it's random, i don't get to pick type of cake when ordering) and the rest of the cake is enjoyed by crew (and sometimes other passengers)

I'm not a cake connoisseur, but it has consistently tasted good enough for me every time I've ordered it (especially ex-HKG).

I don't typically consume many desserts/sweets in general...so I usually enjoy just a slice and share remainder with the crew or other passengers. I do have a habit of always eating the cake in the first meal (so very early in the flight), not sure if that makes a difference in taste. My palette also leans more toward fruity cakes than chocolate due to sweetness level.

Yeah, you can celebrate any occasion so I try to always have fun with the custom messages. Maybe FOMO kicks in from seeing my pictures, and someone else starts ordering cakes too :D

We don't get to choose the cake type when ordering, so It's always fun to order one and not know what to expect. Certain locations do a better job than others as you can see.

It’s honestly unbelievable — I’ve never seen such a huge cake on a plane before.
