For more complex booking, they can set things up. Sometimes, I tell my RM that I want to go on a holiday, and ask for the cheapest business class ticket around a 8-12 hour flight radius including transit and he comes back to me. He also helps with booking of hotels with free upgrades and sometimes asks if I want to meet station chief for meals if I'm around the area. Basically, you can get it as personalized as you want or as unpersonalized as you want. I'm pretty happy with my RM. I've got my RM when I got over 3200 status points.

OIC OK - so that's basically what we used to call a "Travel Agent", but one that's tied to CX only (and hotels with whom they have deals).

Don't think a Travel Agent can help book a massage slot on the pier or arrange for a buggy through security at HKIA or arrange surprises onboard or in the lounge.

You obviously never had a top class travel agent.

but these are perks that are besides flying and are not perpetual like wealth RMs (unless you tanked). Do you get to keep the RM if the next year you fly only enough to make silver, or even green?

Well here CX is missing out. I see that AA just started making Lifetime ExPlat/OWE reasonably easily achievable at 4MM.

How is this relevant to the RM topic?

PaulC852 Dec 31, 2024 8:57 am

It's relevant to the point that you made about losing status. CX has no lifetime status, so obviously if you lose the status you lose the RM. Other OW airlines do have meaningful lifetime status and, perhaps therefore, lifetime RM-like service.

RM has nothing to do with lifetime. It's tier point / revenue based. I don't think CX would invest on lifetime members who no longer spend much on the airline.

And that is fundamentally the point - some airlines (eg AA, BA and QF) reward loyalty, CX doesn't - they just have dedicated sales people who milk you for as much as possible in the short term on a commission basis.

What is the ROI to invest on royalty. Again these are the program that spam CX in the front cabins with their accumulated points. No revenue for CX.

BA rewards loyalty? Thanks for the first joke of 2025! :D

Because they generate upfront revenue for a deferred liability (benefits to the holder when the cash isn't coming in anymore). Its basically like pre-paying. Tonnes of hotels and airlines have lifetime including other OW airlines as others have pointed out. Whether its worth to a business is on a case by case basis and it seems CX doesn't think its worth it (anymore - they used to make lifetimes as I understand it).

Excuse me if anyone gets offended, but by the look of things right now it looks like they're rewarding borderline stupidity (smirk!)

Sure isn't too happy a new year for the BA loyalists

Judging from the reaction next door, 2024 ended with a bang. I wouldn’t be paying that kind of money for a yearly pass to indulge in soggy pasta and fishcakes.

From my understand, even their standard Gold guest list members do not have relationship managers. There is a whole GGL team to take care of them but we have a DM team over here as well.

FYI. The cost of new GGL would be higher than DMP.

(Airlines should incentivise not reward) true but airlines have it too good right now so no need to incentivise?

They can water down later (multiplies anyone?)
