Using Cathay promo code but crediting flight to another FF program

Hi All,

Looking to book a cathay flight and they currently have some promos for flights booked on cathay by Cathay members, however during booking I can only enter my cathay frequent flyer number but I was hoping to actually credit to Alaska so wondering if this would be possible to do afterwards. The T&C for the discount code are a bit unclear as they mainly just say you have to be a member to book with the discount code but doesn't specify whether you are forced to credit the flight to Asia miles. I would try a dummy booking but with the discount code it loses the 24h free cancelation window.

If the promos code was cash discount, you would change your FF programme to AS. After the ticket issued, CX wouldn't charge you back.
However, if the promos code was getting more CX mileages, you couldn't change your programme to AS. The extra mileages will only be gained after you finish all flights. When you change the FF number, CX will no longer link your CX account and couldn't offer you this promotion.

Good to know! Just to clarify are you speaking from a prior experience? And yes, this is simply a cash discount.

I recently had a book and earn X miles promotion. The T&Cs similarly only mentioned needing to be a member. I changed my FFP and successfully received the bonus miles to my Cathay account while earning the flight credits to my other FFP.

Our Xmas bonus Asia Miles campaign has different T&C ! It indicates " To enjoy the bonus miles offer, please provide valid Cathay membership number (all passengers in the booking) upon booking at our website. If no Cathay membership number is entered at the time of booking, the member will not be eligible for bonus miles. After completion of the booking, removing the Cathay membership number or inputting mileage numbers from other airlines will also be excluded from eligibility." Yes, it can be changed to another programme.
After the ticket issued, go to CX website, manage booking, and then edit your FF number to AS.

Different indeed. Completely understandable but a bit of a shame 😃

I have recent experince of receiving a cash discount as an asiamiles member and crediting to another program. No issues.
