Thank you very much for all the advice. For the less than 3 hours flight I might stick to a direct flight like Air Asia and the exit row which is better than normal economy than on the regular airlines.

if you want a Full Service carrier from Bangkok to Manila you are between Thai Airways or Philippine Airlines (菲律賓航空).
when my father used to do Bangkok to another heavily in both directions he would just simply choose Thai aiways over Philippine Airlines.

Personally, I have never had the A321 on BKK and I do believe it to be a very rare occurrence (I do BKK-HKG-XXX quite a lot, and always in J). I would say, regardless of aircraft I would choose CX J over LCCs and Philippine Airlines any day, and probably also over TG.

Thank you and the main issue now for me is the length and time of the trip. I mean the arrival and departure times and the layover compared to the direct flight.

then if you care about time, why would pick a 1 stop option, which would waste 2+ hours?

time is very limited and precious after all. i would have picked a direct flight with a low cost airline as well.

Thats then what I will do. The return on the CX had a bad time so it is either 5J or AirAsa. The AirAsia exit row is fairly good and better than the normal seats on TG or PR. Plus TG and PR seems to be always full while Air Asia seems rarely that full.
