Upgrading to First Class?

Is it possible to book HND-HKG-JFK in J and upgrade the HKG-JFK to F? Call center had no answer.

You can upgrade the HKG-JFK either using Asia Miles, providing there's award availability or using cash; the latter being very expensive I would imagine.

Im being told the 2nd leg to JFK cannot be upgraded because its considered a single flight ticket.

You would need J->F upgrade availability which is different from the J award availability.

I asked whether desks can reprice for same day flight changes; it seems this right has been taken from desks and must go through Global Contact Centre https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...l#post35970616

I imagine the same goes for same day class upgrades - and your ticket must be capable of being reissued. So even if you are willing to stump up the fare difference on the day, the answer may still be no.

That's rubbish. Hang Up And Call Again until you get a less clueless agent.

I have upgraded the LAX-HKG-LAX segments from J to F on LAX-HKG-MNL-HKG-LAX many times. If available you can confirm it online or place yourself on the waiting list. You can also upgrade at the departing Airport at check in if available. usually 1 to 2 hours before departure. I have upgraded the segment at LAX and at HKG.
My Destination is MNL via HKG one ticket. I can't imagine Haneda is any different

Currently 75,000 Asia miles each way.

a) agreed.
b) will depend on whether the bus fare class is upgradeable. Most are.

I've previously done a CDG-HKG-ICN and just upgrade the CDG-HKG leg from J to F from the airport. I can see that there are first class seat available but when I call the hotline, they said the flight is all full. And I've done the single leg upgrade in airport when I drop off my bag. So worth the try to do it in the airport.

I had a booking made on CX, LIS-LHR-HKG, where the first leg was on BA and 2nd leg on CX.
I tried to upgrade two pax to F on the LHR-HKG leg using asia miles, but originally I could only upgrade one as there was only one available quota/seat for miles upgrade.
There were plenty of empty seats, but that doesn't mean empty seat = open to upgrade.

It seems that you are asking for a cash upgrade as your profile only lists DL as FFP.

If you wish to upgrade in advance, they need to reprice the whole ticket as a F ticket. The agent's answer is correct.
Maybe you could get a cash upgrade at the airport (probably at HKG), but it will be very expensive.

If I am mistaken and you are using AM, then other posters have answered.
