this would have been the ideal scenario but since cx doesn't do that then i guess that's that....a few years ago pakistan had closed of its airspace for a 4-5 month period because of which flights from europe - india were getting severely delayed....my family & i were booked on a del-ams-fra ticket on kl that was booked with dl miles but that flight was delayed by over 8 hours due to the airspace closure....dl/kl put all 4 of us on a lh direct del-fra flight....i was hoping cx would have had a similar policy but i guess they don't....

Why is CX liable for anything but the miles?? I am not sure about CX's Contract of Carriage, but I am pretty sure UA states in their Contract of Carriage that in the event of flight cancellations, they are only legally required to refund the ticket. Anything else, including rebooking on other airline's flights, is a goodwill gesture.

KL or any European airlines will have to do that under the duty of care obligation from the EU261 regulations and unfortunately not the case in HKG. If KL didn't put you on another airline's flight they will have to pay for your hotel meals and all basic needs until they find you an alternative flight so obviously it's easier and cheaper for them to put you on whatever flights running.

i noticed there is no more award availability on their own flights to india for the months of may & june now....there was tons of award availability earlier this week....so i guess its just a matter of time now that they cancel the flights.... |
Expert panelists here are certainly thinking about putting India in Group A ???? i-CABLE - ?????????????????????????????????

The 14 days limit only affects right to compensation (which is not quite relevant during covid anyway). The right to re-routing and right to care aren't.

Fine. Extraordinary circumstances https://www.hfw.com/Coronavirus-COVI...posures-Mar-20 ?
Extraordinary circumstances only matter for compensation. The right of rerouting and duty of care are not affected. |

This article makes the same point as patrickw's.
Extraordinary circumstances only matter for compensation. The right of rerouting and duty of care are not affected. If there's a flight from another route https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo...41-ASW_EN.html then a EC261 pax can have it. |
