Baggage allowance and transit experience at BNE
I have an itenerary SYD-BNE-HKG with a 2.5 hour connection at BNE. SYD-BNE is with QF and BNE-HKG is with CX. I want to confirm that the following
1) 2.5 hours should be enough to transfer from domestic to international terminal 2) our bags can be through checked at Sydney domestic airport to HK. 3) if our bags can be through checked, do we just exit the building and hop on the bus to international intemrinal knowing that the luggages will be transferred to CX plane without any issue? Any way to check with CX whether the luggages have arrived at the aircraft? 4) the economy baggage allowance is per CX policy. I am OneWorld Emerald so when i travel CX i can bring 3 check in bags (55 kg in total) and 7kg hand carry. I tried to call the CX hotline but have been put on hold for 30 minutes. Thought it would be easier to get my answers here in the forum. Thanks for your help. |

Thanks for the quick reply!
More info and questions: 1) I booked the ticket through CX.com so the QF flight is marketed as CX####, followed by CX flight BNE-HKG as CX### so that means they are on the same itinerary? 3) Thanks for the info. Can we go to the boarding gate area and ask CX agent if our bags have arrived at the CX aircraft? 4) Does that mean I need to follow the QF baggage policy for Emerald on domestic flight when i check in at SYD, when the two flights are on the same itinerary as mentioned as above? |

Thanks Mwenenzi!!
I checked QF website that i can only bring 2 x 32kg bags as oneworld emerald when travelling on qantas domestic flight so i am not sure if they will follow CX rules (3 bags totalling 55kg) when i have a CX connecting flight on the same itinerary. Sounds like i need to re-pack my stuff into 2 bags so that it fits both allowances. |

As an international itinerary would expect the international rules apply and not the domestic baggage rules (but I am not QF) 2 x 32 kg (64kg) is not that far from 3 with total 55kg https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/fl...efits#oneworld Look at notes 36 & 37 https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-...l-baggage.html https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-...-heavy-charges |

Been there done that Not really necessary. You can ask, but as Mwenezi says I doubt CX BNE will answer. I didn't ask and just walked straight in. //As an international itinerary would expect the international rules apply and not the domestic baggage rules (but I am not QF) As elite: 1 additional piece of 23kg https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-...world-partners (argurable) |

Again, per https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-...age-%3Aen%3Ann, 7kg shouldn't be a problem. |
thanks everyone for the very detail information!

Just took my flight SYD-BNE-HKG.
The check in staff at SYD said there is no priority baggage for OWE unless travelling on business class. She also offered to put us on an earlier flight as there was a storm at sydney in the evening. At BNE lounge there is a ground staff representing CX asking us for our baggage receipt and confirmed that our bags have arrived at CX aircraft so really a thumbs up!!! Also |

I didn't know there was a carve out of OWE priority baggage handling for Qantas domestic flights - is there (or was the agent mistaken?)? |
I, as an OWE, have had Priority tags slapped on bags by QF when travelling in coach.
