Changing dates on a redemption booking
 

I have a redemption booking for BKK-HKG-BKK. I want to change the date on the BKK-HKG flight. The info on Asiamiles says that I can change the date online for $25, but all I can find online is the option to cancel the flight on the Cathay website and presumably start again. Alternatively phone Cathay and do it verbally for the higher $40 fee? Maybe I am missing something on the online procedure? Any assistance? Many thanks.

Is there award/redemption availability the new date you want to travel?

From the main homepage, click on "redeem fights" and log on. Then scroll down and click on "Flight Awards Rebooking - Rebook Now" in a large box on the right hand side.

I checked the small print and realised that my desired new date for one of the legs exceeded the one year validity since date of booking. Confirmed with Marco Polo that I needed to cancel both legs under the same booking number and incur a $120 cancellation charge for the redemption cancellation. Will get the 50k points back and start again. Checked and no apparent problem getting dates if I want to repeat. Maybe next time I will get separate booking numbers for each leg to make things simpler, particularly as no difference in points reduction for doing a return.
