1/1 offers
Mannings: 680 RC for $6,000 purchases https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...nter/mannings/
Red Hot Overseas and Online: 2% for overseas/online purchases https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...nding-rewards/ . (New feature) Further 2% if spending on Premier Mastercard I-card 10X: extended to 30 June 2019 |
Thanks Percy! Happy New Year to everyone.
So this is not an "extension" ? But a new promo ? The distinction is important because if it is an extension then logically if one had hit the ceiling of HK 6,000 for Mannings last time, one cannot benefit this time. Also, is the "gain" the same as the one that just ended? Thanks. |
New, check dates
(Edited 16:05) 100RC more this round for mobile payments. |

Many thanks as always, for the updates. For eligibility for overseas spending on HSBC, remember you said before that its the location that counts? (not the currency) Just discovered that all my Paypal spending (even with overseas merchants in US$ and GBP) is marked as HK on my HSBC statements. So presumably that means Paypal (at least for HK Paypal accounts) never counts as overseas spending as far as HSBC are concerned?

In terms of this promo, yes . Use it for overseas every quarter up to 15,000 HKD and the VS thereafter (for which we'd suggest up to 10,000 HKD a quarter so you can evenly cover the remainder of the 100,000 HKD VS bonus quota). |

CS isn't saying the conversion is definitely ending, just Li PK just being a PK as usual and leaving us in suspense. |

This is for Rewards of your Choice 6x (extra 5x) BTW For the overseas and online (extra) 5x you earn that simply for the transaction being online, even if the billing location is HK (and the currency is HKD or non-HKD) |

This is interesting. Reviewing my "overseas" Paypal expenditure I find that it is not consistent. I have some that are marked as GB and some as HK in the statements. Similarly, Amazon can be all over the place (LU most recently for a GBP purchase). Can I be confident that if the country on my statement is not HK and the currency is not HKD then it counts as "overseas"?
it’s a shame because, with all this online CC fraud, it’s much safer to use PayPal. But, in terms of maximising your RewardCash (by avoiding any risk of being billed out of HK) seems you’re better off paying directly with an HSBC card on overseas websites? BTW: Amazon UK is often LU because they book transactions out of Luxembourg as a tax dodge. |

I remember you can select the currency before you make the payment

But that is currency (which HSBC is indifferent to). Not location <-- tell me how to pick that. |
Isn't Paypal overseas?
|
Oops sorry I misread the deadline until 30 June. It was for i-card

Can anyone confirm whether ATM cash withdrawals via Curve card are still viewed as purchases by Citibank HK or as cash-advances (after recent change in Curve processing)? Which MCC you get for such withdrawals?

query: given this footnote:
"Up to 6.4% RewardCash rebate is equivalent to up to 16X RewardCash. HSBC Premier MasterCard Credit Card cardholders who have registered for the 'Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice' programme and allocated an extra 5 times RewardCash to either the 'China Spending' or the 'Overseas Spending' category, in addition to the basic 1 time RewardCash and the extra 10 times RewardCash earned under this promotion, will receive 'up to 16 times RewardCash' on overseas transactions during the promotional period. Please visit www.hsbc.com.hk/rewards for details of 'Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice' programme." I presume this means that if you have "China Spending", the overseas transaction will have to be RMB, right? Or is this a case where any overseas transaction will count as long as you have allocated to EITHER China or Overseas spending? I assume the former but I think the latter could be a reasonable interpretation as well. |

Percy, one question and one comment on the wiki.
Comment: we can now pay Towngas bills via Alipay HK Question: for HKE and now Towngas, why settle Alipay HK with DBS Black when these are considered online transactions so we can settle with CCB Eye to earn HK$3/AM? |
The 75,000 limit. But otherwise, OK
|
Check and make sure you received miles from the July/Aug/Sept Stan Chart promotion - miles were supposed to be awarded in December. Called SCB today, they swear they have transferred miles to my account. I had to capture and email screenshots of my Asia Miles account to prove that I have not received the miles.
I hope it's only me, but check if you are not sure. |
Got mine on November 5.

So we're now in 2019, Citi has increased the annual fee of the Prestige card by over 50% without adding any benefits whatsoever to the card. Will existing card holders pay 3,800 from next year onwards, or do we pay 2,500 'until further notice'?

If the fee goes up to 3800 for existing cardholders, I am definitely out. |

It actually devalued its benefits. You don't have unlimited PP lounge access anymore. It's still advertised as such, but T&C added "one visit per departure or arrival", which makes impossible not only to visit several lounges a time, but also stay in a single lounge on a transit of more that 3 hrs.
If the fee goes up to 3800 for existing cardholders, I am definitely out. It will be very difficult to convince myself to keep this card if they increase the fee, even though I do find the 4th Night Free benefit extremely useful. |
Just a quick one: In wiki Citi PM has > HK$20K for HKD 3 to 1 Miles, but I fail to see it anywhere on PM site. Can anyone validate if it is an old deal that is gone?
|
It's in the standard T&Cs here: https://www.citibank.com.hk/english/...miles-card.htm (scroll down to Clause 1 of " Terms & Conditions of Points Accumulations and Redemption "
It's not a time-limited promotion. |

You're right. Benefits have been devalued as is - but also further devalued on the back of the fee increase.

It's possible further devaluation is ahead as well - for the US version of the card, the 4th Night Free benefit will be restricted to twice per year from September 2019 onwards.
