Rome J class
All the Hong Kong-Rome flights are showing up EQV
Does anyone know if they ever run the new configuration J class to Rome? I thinkit is just LHR and Austalia but any help would be appreciated thanks |
If you can supply us with eact travel dates, we might be able to help you better.
EQV means a change of aircraft types. It could be 343 one day, the odd 34S... but I highly doubt the 34C (which is the aircraft with the new J class seats) will be flying on the Rome route yet. |
EQV = Equipment Varies so it could be any long-haul aircraft in CX's fleet. As pointed out by GuyBetsy, it is highly unlikely that it will be the new J class - see notes below.
At present, Cathay Pacific have configured 9 aircrafts with their new business class product. 4x Airbus A330-300 serving HKG/SYD/MEL 4x Airbus A340-300 serving HKG/SFO/YYZ 1x Boeing 747-400 serving HKG/LHR Note: All the above aircrafts may serve regional ports whilst in transit in HKG before their long-haul flights in the evening. Please note that the new Business Class will be progressively introduced on long-haul aircraft in coming months. The new Airbus A330-300 (coded "333") in CX timetable is flying HKG/DXB every Sunday and Wednesday and DXB/HKG every Monday and Thursday...non-stop flights only.
Interesting to note that CX is selling First Class on these flights (CX 731 and CX 738)...good news for travellers using oneworld Explorer First Class tickets as previously, this route was served by Business and Economy Class. HKG = Hong Kong DXB = Dubai |
Thanks for the help!
I learned more in one quick post than 20 minutes (and the wrong answer) from the Marco Polo Club line.. Looks like I will be in the old style-- |
The Marco Polo Club Member Service Executives are hopeless at times and have no idea in what they are talking about.
You have a wide spectrum of people working there. I have found some to very knowledgable in their product and what Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles has to offer but there are some who simply have no idea what they are talking about and it is these people that drags the service down at The Club. I hope Cathay Pacific can provide these people with some more training and more knowledge about CX's products. I have found this forum to be more informative then calling Marco Polo Club Service Centre. I guess the users on this forum travel alot and are in touch with 'reality'of what is out there and know more about a company's products that what an employee knows. It happens. I am rather more sceptical about the fact that airlines such as CX and SQ do not take the initiative to share information about what is happening in their company. For example, try calling SQ's Krisflyer Service Centre and ask them when their new Business Class will be launched and you will get a robotic answer: Not Sure Lah! In my opinion, I think SQ's frequent flyer program is worst compared to CX's Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles...the latter is one of the leading rewards programme in Asia-Pacific. This is my 2 cents worth. P.S I think Cathay Pacific is one of the best airlines in the world. [This message has been edited by ACFlyer (edited 02-05-2002).] |
Hi!
Well ironically here in London the CX people know exactly what is going on. They even dealt very nicely about what the new business class seat is like and they apologised for not crediting me with some flight a while back. As for SQ, well I haven't really phoned them since I've had no problem! |
Well I just did the Hkong Rome flight on Thursday night and of course for some reason none of the rules applied---It was a newly configured biz and F class 300 series for some reason so if anyone is interested Rome may be a target for the J class seats. The aircraft tail number is B-HKN if that can help anyone track it like on some airlines systems.
Thanks to all--- |

Did the aircraft have the new First Class Betsy seats (ie Sleeper Suites)? -- Not very clear from your post. 2. What do you mean by 300 series? |
Yes it did have the fully reclinable sleeper seats in F...........The Biz Class was also the new ones. It would be nice if we could get people here to identify the tail numbers of these Biz and First class aircraft they had just flown possible. We use to do this with another airline company when they were selling two different types of seats both as First class when one was decidely less value in order that we could know whether it was worth paying for. But maybe CX doesn't allow or at least nowdays with security issues doesnt permit tracking of tail numers.
Anyone know if its possible? Sorry I dropped the 330 prefix..My Hong Kong-Rome flight was the A330-300 listed on page 83 of the system timetable with above referenced tail number. |
Attila123,
I think you mean Airbus A340-300 for HKG-ROM sector as A330-300 does not have the range to complete the sector as a non-stop flight. CX codes its aircrafts according to the product installed. For example, the code 34C refers to Airbus A340-300 aircraft installed with the new First and Business Class products. On the other hand, 333 refers to Airbus A330-300 with three class configuration. Normally, Airbus A330-300 have two class configuration and is used mainly on the Asian sectors with Perth,Brisbane, Colombo, Karachi on its scheduled days. "34S" refers to Airbus A340-300 with new First Class configuration. As etravelconsult pointed out in this forum, CX has already installed nine aircrafts with the new Business Class product. |
Etravel it very well may have been the 340 but the unusual thing I remember was the J class having only 2 rows in the forward (business) class before the galley section which looks like the diagram for the 330 rather than 340...
Any idea how to track specific tail numbers for CX? Thanks |

CX has 4 Airbus A330-300 aircrafts installed with the new Business Class and it is coded "333" as these aircrafts feature 3 class cabins and hence the letter 3 at the end.
I haven't come across the 747-400 aircraft code yet but I would imagine that they would code it "74C". The new Business Class product is a superb product with innovative new features, wider and longer seats to stretch out, AVOD system, inflight email and intranet, The Bar and Private Dressing Room. You are in for a treat when you fly CX's new J class. |
Not that it would help when booking your flight, but I guess you could use these regos when you're glued to the window at the airport trying to figure out whether the aircraft you're about to board has the new j class or not:
A333 (330 with new F and new J) B-HLP B-HLQ B-HLR B-HLS A34S (340 with new F but OLD J) B-HXA B-HXB B-HXL A34C (340 with New F and new J) B-HXM B-HXN B-HXO |
