Dunkirk finally playing this month

My Android phone is loaded with YouTube downloads of BEPS videos but I wasn't expecting to watch them on CX (rather UO)

Indeed Dunkirk got added, which is great. But the gravamen of the posts here remain unchanged - quality and choices of IFE has gone way done. From month to month, there are a few additional new movies/shows for most categories but the rest (mostly lacklustre) shows remain. It is very very difficult to find movies / shows that are passably interesting to watch. Mind you, I almost never watch movies in my spare time and used to enjoy a bunch of movies on long haul CX, having to pick and choose as there were so many. Now I am challenged at even finding more than 3 movies I barely wish to see just to pass the long hours. Not good.

Actually this month I found quite a number of new movies that I really want to watch, aside from Dunkirk there're also Logan Lucky and Taxi Driver, and last month I flew mostly short haul so still haven't have chance to watch Lego Ninja...

Sometimes I also find it difficult to find some movies that interest me to watch during long haul, but that's also the same when I'm on ground.... When you are on ground, do you have any movie in mind that you want to watch? If not probably it's the movie industry that disappointed you not CX....

Okay, checked again on 350 and you are right, there is no FF button. But I then remembered my previously successful method: a slight swipe of the "scrubber" (not really holding, more sweeping) to the right yielded near perfect results 6/7 times and skipping almost exactly past the commercials. Not sure if it was pure coincidence/luck though

I'm sure there's a secret way like the triple/quadruple tap from the old IFE's, but haven't found it yet.

Kingsman 2 should not be out, given the NA release was only 70 days ago (Sep 22). The usual wait time is around 4 months (~120 days) and it depends on the release day of the movie (before mid-month or after)..

I was on BA back from London on Friday and the programme included Kingsman 2 which I watched, though afterwards not sure why I sat through the entire film.

While I feel CX IFE is not as good as before, it still leads AA, BA and JL, especially the new A350 business class system. One shame is CX used to show classic British comedies, but do not seem to anymore. Personally I feel modern UK sitcoms are unfunny and way too politically correct. To me it is rather sad that American sitcoms are better than the British ones. Rant over. At least CX shows a whole series, i.e. 'Brooklyn 99' or 'The Big Bang Theory' whereas BA and AA will have only a few token episodes from a series. Also agree with an earlier poster, what is it with airlines and '2 Broke Girls? Been on for years! I know AA, BA, CX and QF do source their programme material from the same California based aggregator, but does seem to be a conspiracy to keep that show permanently in (on) the air. Pun intended!

I still think CX is definitely an IFE leader and offers more choice than others. Though have noticed the FF button does not work on more popular shows so forced to watch or just wait for the ads to play.

Happy New Year!

Slight reconsideration after December travel:

Missus: KE IFE selection identical to CX this month...

Public Service Announcement:

CX's onboard entertainment this month has two movies that similarly titled but are two different movies.

-Memoir of a Murderer
-Memoirs of a Murder

The latter is quite good and would recommend watching.

That post was written about 37 days ago..which makes Kingsman 2 100+ days after release. If you are on CX metal, you would see it too. I have to agree it was not as good as the first one, and I was very disappointed at the theater.

Interestingly, CX also offers the new Golden Globe Best Film (Drama) winner, 3 Billboards. The best part for me is watch the independent (of course not on a timely manner) on CX after the award season so I don't need to find a small theater to watch (Call me by your name for instance) in the U.S.. AA also has them but sometimes misses a couple.

flew in JAL in january and kingsman 2 was available. so i suspect its on.every major airline.

despite my anticipation and excitement, i turned it off by the time drinks were served.... as someone said what a waste of successful franchise...

Just checked CDG-HKG and HKG-AKL for this month and Memoirs of a Murder is not there but the other one is, did you watch both?

While that may be true relative to other OW carriers, IMO CX falls behind SQ in terms of depth of content (movies, TV and audio). The new a350 IFE system and screens are however very good.

Just came off an A359 in J a few days ago. Found that by using the remote, if you select the "scrubber" and press the right arrow on the dial it seems to act like a chapter advance on DVD players. I was able to skip through the beginning ads and get right to the feature. Its not intuitive at all though, just happened to observe this by chance. I'll try to confirm this behavior on my next flight on an A359 in early Feb.

As a data point, it was available on KIX-HKG. I didn't check the programme info for the other flights so perhaps it's only available on flights to/from Japan. Only saw Memoirs of a Murder so I wouldn't be able to compare the two!
