Help optimizing account reset
Hoping I can get some advice on how to optimize my club points across membership years.
Current situation... Current status : Gold Membership year ends : March 2017 Current club point total : 595 Planned travel... HKG - MNL - Discount economy (k) - 11-17 Feb HKG - LHR - Business class (i) - 19 - 23 Feb I would like to reset my member year after the trip to the Philippines once I have achieved 600 points. I'd then like the London trip to contribute towards my next membership year period. I am not interested in the 800 points mid tier benefits should I even be able to achieve that by the end of March. Is it as simple as calling the Marco Polo club on the 18th and asking for a reset or do I need to take extra precautions to ensure the London trip isn't credited? Thanks in advance for advice |
Resetting is pretty straight forward, I did it last year in June 1 just before boarding my MNL-HKG flight. I actually qualified in May but if I did my reset in May after my flight my membership year will end May 2017. So instead i decided to call at 7am of June 1 to reset, so I have until June 2017.

You may want to consider removing your number from the London flight altogether. And then manually add it post-March once your year is renewed. This way you can still have Gold status until March 2018 rather than February 2018 if you were to ask to reset your year in February.

If I have the number removed presumably I will then retroactively claim the flight, but wouldn't they just throw this back into the 'year' that the flight occurred?
I can't find the specific T&C anymore, but it has worked this way for years, even after the program revamp. |
OK, good to know, that seems the simplest approach then.
What do I need to do to retroactively claim the flights in April? |
Once you have logged into your MPO account, there is a link to claim missing airline mileage. You enter the details there.

Got it, thanks for your help.

IME your account will be reset immediately after the call or within 24hrs maximum. As soon as you hit 600 you should call in. Your HKG>MNL flight will likely credit 1-2 days after which would put you at 600. Before your next flights just check online to confirm your account was reset. If it has been you do not need to worry about removing your MPC number and claiming later.
