How much do you value CX Diamond?

For those who have MPC Diamond or OWE status, how much would you value it? As if you are currently green or no OW status how much would you pay to have the Diamond or OWE status.

For those who don't have MPC Diamond OWE please feel free to answer the above question and state the tier you are in now.

i think if you have a status far off the valuation it would be irrelevant.

I'm OWE (from JL) and I would only value CX DM with its hidden benefits (to use miles) and 24 MLV subclass guarantee. <10000HKD.

good point, guess i should reword it so that its your first OWE

Seeing how much flying I had to do to get here, I would value it highly. Less in monetary terms, but it's a lot of no-sleep, unhealthy plane food, lack of own bed... how do I value that? I value that a lot, so my loss in all that equates to DM status.

I can't really just monetize the status that easily.

Well... also depends on your travel pattern and frequency.

If you are a frequent Y traveler, it worth quite a lot (for F lounge access and op-up opportunity, priority seat selection, extra luggage). Nevertheless, I will still place a valuation of less that US$1,000 (unless you are "water-good" carrier, then the extra luggage really worths something).

If you are a F traveler / occasional traveler, it doesn't worth much.

Are you really willing to pay, say HK$9,000, for it?

If i could use miles as ive seen, then ya. On top of seat guarantee. Doesnt take many trips to get the value back... If i were to fly as a dm!

I think it depends on the program honestly, especially the "in-house" benefits".

We've been having a furious debate in the SHF household over this.
So far I have planned/flown 7 TPAC through to Aug 31.

For myself, AA Emerald is already done for 2015 sitting at 98K and already putting elsewhere.
For myself, my valuation for EXP would be minimal 18K HKD, my 8 SWUs alone would go over that amount, and unlimited free award changes to boot. If I wasn't so worry about an impending AA devaluation, I would keep on crediting to AA instead spreading the love

And I haven't even put "parallel trading" 32kgx3 into the question, wonder how much bags of Ketchup Chips can I bring back LOL :p

For Mama SHF, it's reversed. She can go for Diamond (34K for 1st qualifying month), she has 3 more TPAC to go at minimum.
But I'm stopping her and going the JL Emerald route a la Kaka.
I just don't believe the hidden benefits or the 24 hr Guarantee Y is needed for her pattern. She's used the 72 hrs guarantee once in 5 years as Gold, but hey use the benefits for 1 ticket and get 3 op-ups LOL :D
In her case, longevity in JGC is better value at this stage :)

In any case, double status is indeed a #FirstWorldProblem :)

ic so from my understanding most of us would value it at less than 10,000 HKD. Which is less than I thought since a few years ago amex cent get Diamond status but then there lots more benefit with the cent card

Anyway I have some questions regarding sectors and legs and couldnt figure it out reading the t&c.

If i fly pvg to tpe round trip pvg>hkg>tpe>hkg>pvg its consider as 4 legs is that the same as 4 sectors? I book directly pvg to tpe and not pvg to hkg and hkg to tpe round trips

Also if its pvg to tpe round trip i can just drop the last leg if i dont wanna fly back to pvg no charges will apply to me? If the above questions hold true i would only get the miles for pvg>hkg>tpe>hkg and 3 sectors?

If i want to rebook i will have to pay the no show fee and the difference in fares (assuming the fare class allow me to rebook)?

Thanks alot!!

If you want to fly sha-tpe, it's possible to do so nonstop. This will save you 5 hours, and is usually a bit cheaper than ka.

Wrt your second question, your assumptions are correctm

thanks moondog, so if i fly pvg to taipei via hk roundtrip i get 4 sectors, might as well do a sector run

Sure, but SHA-tsa is about as easy as it gets. SHA-hkg was excruciating last summer (we even had a thread on the topic).

I won't sector run SHA / PVG / PEK in particular... Better fly some other less delay prone port

Also I agree very much that DM make sense for frequent Y flyer (i.e. me ;) I may also do a sector run to ensure I can renew my DM... At least for current year)... But for J and F flyer... To me I don't see much value added except you don't need to wait while calling 5500

tried searching hkg-tsa or sha-tsa, but cant get tsa as a destination.

Sadly i am moving to pvg, so any sector run would be ex pvg.
