I won't sector run SHA / PVG / PEK in particular... Better fly some other less delay prone port
Also I agree very much that DM make sense for frequent Y flyer (i.e. me ;) I may also do a sector run to ensure I can renew my DM... At least for current year)... But for J and F flyer... To me I don't see much value added except you don't need to wait while calling 5500 |

tried searching hkg-tsa or sha-tsa, but cant get tsa as a destination.
Sadly i am moving to pvg, so any sector run would be ex pvg. |

Sure, but SHA-tsa is about as easy as it gets. SHA-hkg was excruciating last summer (we even had a thread on the topic).

That's assuming you get pass the busy tone firstly :p I gave myself a 5 hr connection for HKG-PVG-DFW coming up just in case. Here's the question I saw from Moondog response, how do you get 3 Sectors? I thought CA or MU flights crediting to Asia Miles don't earn sectors? Only CX/KA and Oneworld flights or am I simply mistaken? SHA-TSA is a Mainland/Taiwanese carrier route And i thought most of you that do it by sector do ex-TPE to say like MNL? Maybe not MNL during Typhoon Season however :D |

Could be ex-CAN or ex-XMN (but may have serious delay) if not ex-TPE... Yet to make up my mind yet |

A Big Thanks to our Glorious Leader no less, or the PLA, your pick :D No kidding, Sector run involving PRC port, talk about asking for trouble. Delays, Bad Air quality, culture, etc...

would this apply?
https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...rogrammes.html "Club miles and Club sectors" Flying in eligible fare classes with Cathay Pacific, Dragonair or any of the oneworld alliance airlines earns you Club miles and Club sectors. The higher the fare class, the more Club miles and Club sectors you will be awarded. CX, KA or Oneworld for Club Sectors so no TSA-SHA. You would earn Asia Miles if it was on CA or MU, but no club miles https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...lub-tiers.html

I can take out chunks with each TPAC trip, usually 3-4x TPAC plus some Domestic US/Canada does the trick. Not segments though, AA EXP needs 120 segs, no thanks :D |

I never meant to imply that SHA-tpe flights counted for club sectors. Rather, anyone who values their time in the slightest would be silly to regularly fly SHA-tpe via hk (those days are long gone, thankfully).

Me too! I'm going to try to sneak a few visits in before the summer time fun commences. (I always use HKG in one direction and SZX in the other, but both are equally miserable.)
Don't remind me, just hoping we're not getting 650mm+ of rain like last May. The typhoons will come and go but the stupid rain trough can sit along the coast for 2 straight weeks :( I'm doing HGH-SZX-SHA as part of the nesting for the AA DCA-PEK/PVG flash sale. Remember, they aren't mistake fares, they are flash sales :D Can't remember ever having the motivation to do a Mainland mini-trip LOL :D I got a CZ 333 J for SZX-SHA so can't be all bad. But back to the topic, how much do I value Emerald? Not awhole lot if you're requaled LOL :D |
