A350-900 Config

Unlike most other carriers NZ etc who have tried to have the lowest CASM on their next gen aircraft ( 787/350)
CX has gone more premium like JL etc

38-28-214

also
New Entertainment System next year
New PE/J and updated Y as announced before.

For CX maybe...but if CX going to keep 32 inch seat pitch, it's hardly the most comfortable Y in the industry.

sure
but I was meaning A350's or any airline that has selected the A350 over the 787

also the awful CX safety video ( seriously?!!) is going to change...

JAL has selected both and the new SKY WIDER II seats on 787 are ~18.9" wide with 34" seat pitch. Hard to imagine the A350 seats on long-haul flights will be any worse than that.

Not sure if the safety video change is a good news or not...imagine if they make it even worse than the current one LOL

Jl is the exception for the 787
Most have gone 3-3-3
And Jl business product is no where near CX

sure no where near because it is so much ahead CX's :o

Anyway, given CX's recent cutbacks on Y and rumored MPC changes, I am not so sure if CX will be so generous on the A350 Y seats. Would be nice if someone with the correct skills and tools could do a mock up on the seat config and estimate the width and pitch.

right... anyways I have no interest in comparing CX to an airline that should not really exist anymore...

easy
assume same pitch
214 seats
3-3-3
unless CX chooses really wide aisles
it will be 18.5 inches

cutbacks in Y?
the last cutback was in 2009 ( brush socks etc)
since then we got USB, ports added.

Doesn't surprise me that AKL will be likely the first long haul destination for the A350. They really need to replace the A340 on that route ASAP.

Wonder if DME might also get it??

Many cut backs in Y since 2009:

1) Only one tea selection instead of the usual two (English and Chinese)
2) No more pepper and salt
3) Meal quality way down from the old days
4) Only one bread on one meal instead of on both meals served
5) Drink selections way down from before
6) Galley used to have Kit-kats, and other decent selections

1 - Not true. They still offer two tea selections the last time I flew.
2 - It seems they added it back inside the spoon and fork. Not sure though its a one off.
3 - I agree. Meals were much better even 5-6 years ago.
4 - Not true. They still offer bread in both meals.
5 - Not really a drinker in Y so wuoldn't know but they still have the same juices.
6 - Now they have mini Toblerones and potato crisps so not sure if that is an upgrade or downgrade.

You might have missed it...

But according to the article, CX plans to have a dual screen experience. Watching a movie on the main screen while checking the progress of the flight on the screen on the handset. Seems to be the new trend. Hopefully, a bigger screen will be applied. I guess expect a cabin something similar to this:

It could be just something like the remote in J, don't have too much fantasy

In Y, another better implementation would be making the current blue light hidden touch screen buttons (i.e. volume, brightness, reading light, and service bell) to that separate small display and one additional feature of that little screen is to display flight and track info like that on J remote

absolutely positively definitely concur. two out of three products offered on this route are old generation products; have had enough of it.

I believe this was in reference to J seats not Y seats.
