Can one change redemption ticket as if HND and NRT were the same?

A redemption ticket has been issued and partly used, so it cannot be cancelled and re-issued. Now, it is necessary to change dates for one segment HKG-NRT on JL.

Whist there is no availability for HKG-NRT but there is IS availability for HKG-HND.

Is that allowed?
Thanks.

Doubt it will help here, but think Psychiatrist had mentioned once that for awards, CX looks at the city, and not the terminal (think that he had used that on one of his wonderful multi-carrier award redemptions...might be worth trying to 'change the date to the same city'..

No idea from an award point of view, but from JL and CX point of view on a revenue J ticket, HND/NRT are treated as the same city.

I've change ex-NRT tickets to ex-HND and vice versa arriving or departing fuss free.

No..CX treats it two different airport.
I have similar experience booked rewards ticket depart from HND but somehow I changed departure date and HND no availability but NRT does, CX request a change fee for this.

For the purpose of deciding whether it is an openjaw or a stopover, the city matters. i.e. HND//NRT is regarded as stopover but not openjaw.

However, once ticket issued, you cannot change from one airport to another airport within the same city without triggering re-issue (if ticket is completely unused). In other words, you can't simply pay 1,000 asiamiles to change from one to the other.

The rule is a bit different for revenue ticket which the routing rule itself already allow NRT or HND as an alternate route.

The reason why airport is clearly distinguished for award ticket is because it may affect the calculation of miles needed. For example, CTS-KIX//HND-HKG falls under 1500-2500 band, whiles CTS-KIX//NRT-HKG falls to the higher 2500-5000 band. Asiamiles does not use TYO to calculate the distance.

Yes - HND and NRT are the same city - I wasn't able to use this as an open jaw. I think I did TPE-NGO // HND-HKG for my multi-carrier RTW.

This is correct to my knowledge.
