Just remember that AA members when buying cash tickets need to book the premium cabins or H class fares to earn anything on CX. Or TransPac use the AA codeshares. They will be a lot more expensive that V class. If you are talking about the subset of AA members who never actually pay $$ for TransPac tickets, you have an argument. But then, I think that there are a number of HKG banks that pass on AsiaMiles points.
Having planned on moving from re-qualification at MPC SL to qualifying for MPC-Gold, most of the flights in this interval would have earned less (or nothing) on AA. And remember that an AA member has no way to upgrade from R class (which isn't all that much extra over E transPac exAmerica) to business. And a whole lot less than even D or I class. Happy wandering Fred The AA guys are doing precisely what's logical. What I'm astounded that is CX blatantly encourages a far less-profitable and lower revenue customer - AA redeemers - over their own more profitable, higher revenue passengers. Let's face it, AA pax redeeming miles are almost certainly worth considerably less cash/year than the average businessman living in HK and accruing to MPC, regardless of the V fare situation above. CX has the numbers, I've seen some form of them presented to investors before. By a wide margin HK-based MPC members are the highest grossing customers. The other thing to consider is, most AA members are not accruing their miles simply by flying. Credit card awards with AA (as I just learned, signing up for my first card) are insanely more generous with the miles handouts than any of the MPC cards. You could realistically find yourself with heaps of AA miles without flying much on OW. (which is why I said above...if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!). One final irony, this situation doesn't really benefit the AA traveler who is buying full fare J anyway, which is a very profitable subset of CX customers. That customer can't upgrade his ticket to F because redemption upgrades are only allowed with Asia Miles! So CX not only disadvantages its own customers, but they disadvantage the most profitable AA customers in exchange for taking heaps of AA redemptions. I think that's the overall beef. |
This thread is going off topic, and I have deleted some posts which are not relevant to this topic. Please keep it to the topic of discussing the potential changes that are coming to the MPC program.

The priority boarding lines are comical. There's always a few people who cannot / refuse to believe they the left side is actually the F / J line. It doesn't add much time to boarding usually (maybe 2-3 minutes additional at most). It mainly just looks bad.
Noticed two queues at gate 70, one looks like priority but is as long or longer than the no-priority queue. After seeing someone shown up front I stuck my U mobile bp at the GA's face and asked humbly "can I move up also?"? I was promptly shown up front and was among the first to go on the plane (I normally wouldn't do this but I'm up front for today). |
This moving up front will further alienate priority pax. Now all F/J revenue pax think they have a right to cut up front, and GA let's them.
Just enforce the rules logically already, come on CX, it's not hard. |
The topic is on MPC going the way of PPS. I deleted some irrelevant posts. Please stay on topic.

If CX really wants to be stingy on its own FFP, it needs to treat its own FFP well as well. Here are some ideas based on discussions lately:
Take away yes (SL limits lounge access, GR no longer special, etc.) , but CX has to give us something too. Like make DM really exclusive like guarantee redemption awards, F redemption only available for CX FFP members. |
Just a quick data point. I was in queue last weekend for morning flight from HKG to TPE. I was in the J class queue and over-heard the service staff talking in soft voices. They were mentioning to the staff who are checking the BP and passport that for Green card MPC members, the priority queue is only for MPC members and that they cannot bring any friends or family members with them on the priority queue.
I guess this will help a little given that I have seen some GR members bringing the whole "village" with them to utilize the J class queue for boarding when they are travelling in Y class. |

But I suppose GR members can bring their spouses to the priority queue. To be honest, I think CX should allow GR members to bring ONE friend/ partner instead of strictly limiting to spouse

Um i don't! I think GR members don't deserve anything than maybe a check in at HKIA MP counter. Seriously, you guys spend nothing compared to Gold let alone Diamonds. why on earth should you get priority boarding? Please enlighten me!
Also, new rumor I heard is DM will be limited to bring only one guest for lounge, and they haven't decide whether to keep allowing GO to bring in one guest into the lounge or not. |
I really doubt they'll drop DM to one guest unless they plan on restricting OWE down to one guest too.

Don't worry, words are GR will not have priority boarding when the MPC gets an "enhancement", also SL will have limited lounge access (rumor is 4 per year)
