I've just received an email from CX claiming beginning Jan. 20th (yet I only gotten the email today...), CX has gone into 3-line format: 1 for regular pax, 1 for GR and PEY, and 1 for elite fliers.

alphaod Feb 2, 2016 3:25 pm

Also just got the email today as if CX was trying to explain why GRs are getting lower priority...

I'm wondering... if there is no PY, where do the GRs go? And Elites plus F/J still feel like a lot of people.

CX new boarding procedure

Received the following email from MPC, anyone have experienced this yet?

Shorter queues for priority boarding
Providing a more enjoyable start to your journey, priority boarding means less time spent queuing and more time to settle in your seat before take-off. To improve operational procedures for priority boarding, effective 20 January 2016, a separate queue has been introduced for Green members and Premium Economy Class passengers, while Silver members and above will continue to enjoy priority boarding with the First and Business Class boarding queue.

Maybe they'll always have a PY queue and it will just be greens when there is no PY cabin?

This is what I saw for KA252 to Yangon, no premium economy but they still had a middle queue for GR

I was on KA 482 to Taipei and it was three lines as well. One for Business/SL/GO/DM, one for club (this line was looooong) and one for economy.

Across the aisle was CX 464 also to Taipei. There, they had four lines. One for F/DM, one for J/SL/GO, one for W/GR and one for Y.

I'll see how it works out at TPE later today.

alphaod Feb 6, 2016 11:22 am

Was on a KA flight. There was indeed a middle lane for GR, but there was nobody in that line. All the people were piled in the J and the Y lines.

Just for kicks, I decided to line up in the GR line with nobody in it. Turns out they let me go at the same time as the J/DM/GO/SL/OW line...

If that's to PEK / PVG... No surprise :p:p

Still kind of stupid that they would release the GR line at the same time as the "other" Premium/Elite line, that's what I meant.

Just noticed the interesting combo I just wrote: J/DM go slow line...

Indeed it should be released after F/J line is done. What's the point otherwise?

TPE they will release "the other line" when elite line is about half way done. HKG is the only port I see truly board all the F/J/DM/GO line first before they release other lines.

I flew just after this came into effect. They obviously hadn't worked the kinks out yet - they had J boarding on the left, Y boarding on the right. The PEY sign was there but it pointed to a space to the right of the Y queue which was completely roped off from the doors. I saw more than one PEY passenger cross the Y queue to get to the PEY "queue", see it was roped off, cut back across the Y queue and join the J queue. Confusion all around.

Last Saturday ex-HKG on a Y BP as GR I saw the roped-off PEY queue too. I backed out and went through in the J queue without issue.

In outports (BKK, HAN) I have yet to see the GR/PEY queue.

Does anyone have any recent experience as to whether the 3 queue boarding system has actually been implemented in LHR yet? Whether the GR/PEY actually leads anywhere? If it doesn't lead anywhere, or the GR/PEY doesn't exist in London yet, are people just joining the J queue instead (a la percysmith's experience above)?

My father (who's both G and flying PEY) is departing LHR on Tuesday and just wondering what to advise him

Not quite LHR but they did have the segregated lanes in AMS 11 days ago if that may be anything to go by.
