CX-BA Interlining on separate bookings

Hello all,

I have a BKK-LHR return flight booked. But I want to connect with those flights from HKG using a CX award ticket (i.e. I don't want to spend anytime in BKK, I'd just like to transfer airside).

There will be therefore two separate bookings. Can I 'marry' the two together, and if not, can CX check my luggage through to LHR and BA check through to HKG on the way back?

Finally, the BKK-LHR flight departs at 1120. The CX flight arrives BKK at 1000. Enough time you think?

Will be flying J in all sectors if that is relevant.

Thank you.

However for the return BA to CX maybe not - as BA Nad QF have crap policies on interlining and if sep tickets then they can refuse

If ba staff refuse to tag bags thru, just give tags to cx staff in bkk transfer desk. They would do the tag thru properly for you. You wont hv to clear immigrations for just this

Not possible as they will only tag it to BKK and op need to clear immigration and recheck. You know CX staff are not your servants

except they are paid well by CX to help customers checking in their connecting flight and ASSIST them with the related issues. BKK and TPE are 2 CX focus hubs that historically helped me very well on this even on low sub-class fares or awards.

you seem to need to do some corrections on the above posts, correctioncx

Since when are they paid to pick up you baggage and help you recheck? Have you had actual experience, if so please quote the exact date and PNR and route?

Please stop misleading people.

I believe that if you have an international to international connection at BKK you can have a through check in. If you fly into Thailand and the. Onto a Thai domestic flight, you need to clear immigration and pick up your bags unless on certain airline combinations.

The problem is BA policy not to interline on seperate tickets.
However sometimes an agent will do it. But no guarantees.

As for whether CX staff at BKK will pickup bags and recheck for you.....

That is incorrect.

BA can tag your bag to another flight even on separate tickets provided the flight is operated by a ONEWORLD carrier which CX is.

CX has been always able to thru check your luggage and maybe even issue your boarding pass on separate bookings even if connecting carrier is not ONEWORLD. Just make sure you present the connecting flight's details at check in.

My luggage was TAG thru on a EDI-LHR-AMS-HKG booking with an overnight transit at LHR.

Yet my luggage info is not in CX system (BA agent at EDI has reminded me to double check with CX at AMS) when i talk with CX agent at AMS.

Tag through is usually not problematic - they dont even need your PNR. I have once a KUL-MNL-HKG on MH and CX, MH just need to know which flight i m taking at MNL-HKG, not even the booking or ticket itself. Instead it is more important to check at transit that CX got the baggage tag number.
