Soon after the Regent became an Intercontinental property (many years ago now) service went downhill enough to make us prefer the Shangri La down the street a bit. Intercontinental is better situated, of course.

Don't forget that the experience will be moderated by whatever jetlag does to you (though traveling in First helps a lot).

Hi -

Yes, Shangri-La has better service levels. I think the view from a decent Harbor view room at the Intercontinental is spectacular and well worth it, especially for one night.

Just to chime in, that is indeed my plan - I'm flying CX F YVR-HKG-SIN with a 1.5 day stopover in HK, and I've booked a deluxe harbour view room through Virtuoso at the IC HK to show the view to my GF, who has never been. ^ I usually do stay at the Shangri-La Kowloon (and have stayed at the Shangri-La Island before) and loved it, but I thought I'd splurge a bit. :D

Considering how much CX is taking away from their F services and how much the Middle East carriers are pouring in theirs, you should have gone with EY instead.

Amazing what you can create with little people and wide angled lens
