Baggage - two transits

Hi all,

I've got a baggage related question for a flight I'm taking later this year, and I'm hoping some of you can help :) (or move it to another forum if necessary).

My itinerary is TPE-xHKG-xDXB-LHR, with CX on the first leg, a ~4 hour transit to catch CX745 to DXB, then a ~19 hour transit (time to explore DXB!) before catching BA106 to LHR.

I was just wondering whether CX would be able to check our bags all the way to LHR with us? A secondary issue is whether they'd be able to give us boarding passes all the way to LHR, or whether we'd have to approach the BA check-in at DXB.

I've read a couple of threads elsewhere, and I was only able to find consensus for extended CX-CX transits where the transit city is HKG. My concerns are that:
- DXB doesn't have the facilities to keep bags for an extended transit; and/or
- CX has issues with flights that are >24 hours away, especially with a non-CX carrier

If the above isn't possible, I guess I'll just have to check the bags to DXB and get a kept luggage locker. Not the ideal outcome, but at least I won't have to lug it around with me all day.

cx can do it.
If TPE cant do it, id suggest short checking till hkg, and let cx hkg do it. But my experience is that TPE is pretty good with this

Great! Thanks for that :)

Baggage - two transits

CX/SIN managed to through check our bags for SIN-HKG-LAX-LIM-LPB which was across 3 tickets, with an ~15hr transit in LIM onto a non oneworld carrier (but with an interline agreement in place)...took them a bit of time to get all done, but wasn't an issue otherwise...

No problems even if it is not oneworld CX can do it

Only if there is an interlink agreement. I have a flight coming up booked on one ticket, but transferring from CX to TG and I have been advised that I will have to pick up baggage at my transfer point.

You have been advised wrong cx has an agreement to connect baggage if you connecting flight is a Thai operated aircraft. If it's a subsidiary or code share then maybe not

TG and CX definitely has interline agreements / you can check that in the GDS. You should've asked for a supervisor.

If it is those LCC then it is a different matter

CX and TG work with each other well and have interline agreement.

Code:

W/*CX¥*TG«
CX-160 CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS/CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS LTD

  MAY ISSUE TICKETS INCLUDING
      TG-217 THAI AIRWAYS INTL LTD
              THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL LTD.

  MAY CHECK BAGGAGE TO
      TG

I don't know, however, whether bags can be through checked from an international to a domestic segment via BKK. Can't remember if I heard something saying that there is a problem with that.

CX is the most flexible and helpful airline when it comes to interlining baggage - BA won't even try, SQ will do it but make you feel like they are moving heaven and earth for you, whereas CX will do it politely with a smile and try everything in the power to assist.
Another reason why I love CX

This is certainly good to hear :)

Baggage - two transits

And, I had no issues getting TG to tag my bags through for CNX-BKK-HKG. (CX had even slapped on the priority tags somewhere along the way!)
