In my case it is transferring at BKK onto a TG domestic flight. Maybe that is the complication. Anyway my flight is in a few weeks time, will see what happens.

Ah that's why. Maybe the domestic sector had the issue. I find in CUPAC they actually have a clear database as to what can be interlined and what can't be ( ir all the airport restrictions)

Checking through should be possible. I have done a six-sector leg before. The BP issue though - the later flights may not have "opened" yet so they may not be able to issue a BP. However, you may be able to get mobile boarding passes as you go along if you have data roaming or wifi access - I have done that before too

They can check bags through from CX to TG domestic, but the last time I did this (HKG-BKK-Hkt) we had to clear immigration at the transit point in BKK, but still collect bags from the international section at HKT and then clear customs. Very confusing!

Just to follow up, I did have to go through immigration, collect bags and recheck at BKK. I was told that this was because the flight I was transiting to was a domestic flight. If it was another TG international flight, they would have been able to interlink.

My bro SIL and the brats will fly SYD-(CX)xHKG-(CX)xNGO-(JL)CTS for me in a couple of weeks. Everyone has at least two tickets and my brother four (don't ask...but pray for me cos they're coming to CTS for me).

What's the odds they'll get tagged through to CTS?

Answering my own question - bags tagged to NGO only, and BP to NGO only also. They had to complete a fresh check-in at NGO domestic desks.

Just to update people flying out of TPE. CX ground staff are instructed to not tag bags with more than 3 sectors. This is to safe gaurd the liability of CX for lost luggage.

For example how many of you know that if you dont tag your checked luggage with a label with your personal details on your are in breach of the conditions of carriage

Each airport has a different set of rules for interlining I was just quoting the rules as given for TPE which I got from staff there

So the CoCs are not definitive then.
