Yes different fabric. Not vinyl but a Birdseye pattern.

Thanks. Don't understand why they aren't using leather (or \simulated leather) on a 2014 F product.

I'm glad they don't use leather. Really uncomfortable for long haul flying.

Me too. I imagine leather would also be so prone to permanent creases (the leather sofas in the cabanas are quite creased up now) and expensive to exchange in case of spills etc..

I am still looking forward to my first refreshed F :(

I thought the same until I tried EY F. Leather seats. Verrry comfy and visually appealing, too. In case you're interested, the info here is both accurate and representative of what it's really like.

After a year or so it won't be the same and sitting on a leather seat for prolong time is also not comfortable - actually many new designs in furniture are moving away from leather and use fabrics such as alcantara.

Yup. SQ's new leather (or very accurate leather-substituent) F seats are similarly comfortable for ultra long haul duration. Sometimes conventional wisdom misses the mark (shocker!).
