I have the following complex CX itineary and wanted to see whether I can check my bag through to the final destination
Hkg-cmbx-sin
However do note that the hkg-cmb flight involves a transit stop in SIN
Just wanted to see whether CX can tag the bags to SIN?

I would assume no, since your stopover is longer than 24hrs? But also, I don't think you would want your baggage checked through as it would mean having your bag at Colombo airport for more than a day increasing chances of it getting lost/pilfered.

Cmb is transit, actually I'm doing a turn.Originally Posted by sxc

The complexity is that I'm doing a turn in Cmb and the flight itself is a 1 stop flight.Originally Posted by sxc
If transit I expect it shouldn't be a problem but I don't have personal experience.
I assume the OP is doing HKG>>>SIN>>>CMB>>>SIN. Assuming it is on the same metal, then it will be CX 711, then returning as CX710 exCMB.
Assuming that this is a legal booking and ticketed, the check-in agent in HKG should be able to tag the baggage to SIN with the 2 separate flight number.
Better to check with CX itself. I don't think anyone for that matter has done something similar before.

I have had CX tag the baggage for a SFO->HKG->TPE->HKG->SIN itinerary to SFO->HKG->SIN without any problem and in fact across (2) separate ticket.Originally Posted by sxc

the SIN transit would not do anything since its a HKG-CMB flight, and you are next going to SIN as you've indicated. the 1st SIN transit does not go into the consideration of anything except you'd be physically there.

I am having a feel that OP might be on CX 711 which routing is what I mentioned in my post above. I guess OP is worried that his baggage will be offloaded on the CX 711 leg as opposed to making it with him to CMB and back on CX 710Originally Posted by kaka

Should not be a problem checking thru. I did a HKG-NRT-HKG-FRA a while ago. also just a turn in NRT.
Worst case they offload your luggage at the first SIN stop - and they will keep it at lost and found.

nah i dont think so - they do that for HKG-XXX-HKG-YYY for simple ops reason and there is storage facilities (and checkin would be open) anywaysOriginally Posted by CXFlyerBoy

OP's ticket isnt HKG-SIN! how can they spill out a HKG-SIN luggage tag
I had a more complex routing CX KUL-HKG-RUH via AUH then turn around on QR RUH-DOH-AUH.
CX counter said they can check right thru. As it turned out, my baggage did not reach RUH for QR to pick up and loaded it onto my connecting flight.
They were off-loaded at AUH and when I reached AUH, the baggage was stored at the Lost & Found for me to pick it up.

Seems like this is the correct answer Originally Posted by terenceyaw

I've done tpe turns before and the agent just have to tag to the final destination
Eg
Hkg-tpe-hkg-LHR
The agent accept the bag at hkg will just disregard hkg-tpe-hkg and just issue a hkg-LHR tag. The agent told me the system will not allow tags going back to origin.
So my issue is that for hkg-cmb since it stops in sIn. Will it cause problems if they tag hkg-cmb-sin???

Should not be an issue. You are actually flying HKG-CMB-SIN....that is what the computer sees....the fact that the flight happens to stop in SIN on the way out is inconsequential in this issue. You are not ticketed HKG-SIN-CMB-SIN I take it. Lets say the out bound stopped in HAN....you would still be going HKG-CMB-SIN....just with a stop in HAN...so there you would not be concerned about your bag. The coincidence of flying through SIN on the way out does not change that. Having said all that....CX may choose to tag it only to SIN to save the weight of carrying your bag..but that would just be a logistical decision.Originally Posted by correctioncx

Either way...happy and safe flight to you.
