CX3336
Departed: 10:00 HKG Arriving: 04:56 MWH RIP :( |
Yes Sad. I'm certainly making the most of the 747's from HKG to HND and down to SIN.
Booked on SIN-HKG on Friday. Its an ageing relative who only has limited time left..... |
wow it is sad
I do not think any other plane type when retired will give me the same feeling |
I have probably spent hundreds of hours sat on that upper deck front seat on the left
|
seeing it like that puts it in perspective how much $ we spend for such a tiny piece of real estate each flight. I bet the lot of us on here have spent in excess of $10mm USD for travel in that upper deck
really great picture btw. indeed sad to see them go |
What happened to all those seats ripped out? I know the shell Y will probably be retained to be used on the regional retrofit program, but what about the herringbone J and F? Can we get them from CXcitement? :p
Putting one of those seats at a corner of my home would make a great place to relax :D |

B-HOY also retired.
|
Does the retirement schedule go by registration alphabet forward? B-HOV, B-HOY........
|
No, apparently B-HOW is going on the 17th. Wonder why they kept HOS, thought this bird was never really liked since it was known as Heap Of Sh*t by people within CX whenever something went wrong.

It's already 28th today...and 29th in many parts of the world :P |
Really a shame to see them go, CX's 744s were always a beautiful sight and a pleasure to fly in.
But let's face it: the MEL-lists kept getting longer, the delays and cancellations due to technical issues also. Probably it was not one of Cathay's very best decissions to bring in many more aircraft (with different engine) so late in their lifespan (when SQ decided to get rid of same). The BCF program seems to have been disapointing and HKE was already crooked when they got it). That said I'm still hoping their replacement will be 747s and not vibrate with only two monstrous engines. |
