I agree with that. SQ does a few things I prefer (notably food, and offering a proper J between HKG and SIN on at least some flights), but there's a comfort factor with CX, that I don't get even if I fly J on SQ: F class check-in, F lounge, priority handling in case something goes wrong, if I want to change flight booking I have seat guarantee, extra nice when on board, etc. Though I don't think it's all specific to CX, as I used to feel the same way about SQ when I lived in SIN and was PPS with them...

I feel the same way about SQ but have noticed that SQ treats loyal passengers little better than ordinary passengers. So even though I have just moved to SIN, I plan to stick with OneWorld - CX across the Pacific and BA for Europe.

But I do agree with many of the OP's on this thread - once one has qualified for DM there is little upside. So unless the actual miles are very important e.g. for upgrades etc., I recommend diversification.

If CX offers consistent good service, good food, overall good experience, then I would say stick with CX. However, since we know that is not the case anymore AND if a person can diversify, then why not?

There's not much incentive to keep flying CX after renewing Diamond if you are always flying J and F. I keep both star alliance gold and one world because one world doesn't serve some of the destinations. If you are starting fresh on star alliance, I'd ask them to match you your Oneworld status.
