I help up my boarding pass and said, "First Class, but after you sir. We all insist." The gate attendants got a kick out of it.

Good job, Jane! You responded to a DYKWIA passenger with "Yes, I know who you are". ^^^

You'll probably also enjoy this, which happened to me waiting to board AA 136.

Made it into the Wing this morning at around 09:15. Went into the dining area, ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! There were used plates, glasses... all over the place.

Anyway, went and got my usuals (OJ, dim-sum) and just found a spot big enough for me to put my breakfast (i.e. between two piles of used plates/glasses) and marched on.

Around 5 - 10 minutes later, an army of 4 lounge attendants came out and worked their way through the tables. After another 15 miuntes, the place was back to normal!!!^^

It seems that there is some problem with the way the management team is running CX at the moment. Standard seems to be slipping all the time.....

With regards to the lounge capacities: I haven't noticed much difference in the last 4 years - they are very busy at peak times, but I have never been able to not find a seat. Whether it is the 8am rush hour or the 10pm-waiting-for-Europe, it can get very busy at The Wing.

The staff do a great job at both HKIA Lounges - great service. Only reinforces the fact that it is much nicer to be flying out of HKIA several times a month rather than {insert name of USA airport here} regularly.

As already mentioned, The Pier can be a little more comfortable, so i take the opportunity to head down to there when practicable.

One the DYKWIA situation:
There is a thread somewhere (in one of the USA threads) regarding one of the ex-Presidents being very polite to some DYKWIA-flyer when they push infront (can't seem to find it now- am sure someone can though). Urban myth? - no idea, but makes for great reading.

I do find it irritating that CX decided to open priority boarding to MPC Green as the line always looks so long, but it really doesn't take that long once they get it moving.

For $50 per membership CX is bound to throw them a bone, and priority boarding seems to be it.

However, now that CX seems to board priority line first (holding off the Y line for initial boarding), this doesn't seem to be a major problem. Yet I wish the way it is done can be more consistent. Some gate supervisors will wait until the J line is mostly done before boarding the Y line, but other supervisors will board the Y line when J line is only 1/3 done. So I hope there can be some consistency there.

Even the lounge at the Pier gets very crowded during peak times. Lots of dishes and glasses left over on the tables as well. Maybe not really worth the trek over to the Pier.

Hey, these things happen even at the CX J check-in lines in HK.

Last time, at the Airport Express station in Central, a Northern Asian guy wearing a suit approached the CX J check-in lineup yelling business class.. business class, and tried to cut in front.

CX Letting no status, Y pax who have paid $50 for MPC use the J / F priority boarding line is a joke.
In some cases when I have flown in J, this line has been longer  than the Y line, as pax have lined up well before gate opening times.

Alas, the end goal is for CX to improve its revenue stream. Not to make pax feel better than others. What I believe most people who complain about this fail to overlook is that HK is an incredibly transitory place, especially for expats, and many people who move to HK pick up extraordinary travel schedules. Green benefits are a way to entice someone (possibly who hasn't flown much before, or maybe who just moved to HK) into the program, and to provide some benefit for the $50 CX charges. The charge itself is a separate debate, but I suppose I don't agree with the anger (usually non-MPC) members have for the CX policy of allowing Greens to use the line. I can think of two Greens in my company who have purchased 5-7 Y class (paid B or Y subfare) round-trips HKG-PEK and PVG at about $500-900 USD each. It's not enough miles/segments to earn them Silver (although maybe CX will be nice to them), but I know plenty of OW elites....ahem, USA....who pay less than that dollar amount to their airline each year yet qualify for OW Ruby or even Sapphire! So from CX's point of view, why not? Especially if these Green's may eventually fly more and become Silvers, Golds or Diamonds?

I don't know if I speak for many CX Diamonds or Golds here, but I definitely don't mind, whether flying Y, J or F, if the line in front of me is long. I could always just show up later, or take a seat and sit tight. It goes quickly anyway.

The final point I'm not sure if people realize, but I'm not really sure how many Greens are on each flight anyway...some CX flights have an absurd amount of true elite fliers. I can think of JFK, PEK and PVG to name a few. I wrote a few weeks back about a PEK flight of mine with FORTY Diamonds alone. It wouldn't be crazy to think that flight had 80, maybe 100 SL/GO/DM members, not even including other OW elites. So that backs up the line pretty quickly, Greens or not!

Sorry for going a little OT here

You can speak for me. When I paid USD50 for Green, I did not get priority boarding back then. CX started allowing GR to board about 2006-2007. I do not feel bad at all. GR members account for very few of those in the F/J lines.

Back to the topic - Besides getting crowded, the Wing is getting old. It needs new plumbing and perhaps some new facilities. A new bigger Wing will be good.

The new Travellers Lounge East can be a better experience than the Wing when the Wing is too busy.

I thought that the Wing (and maybe the Pier) was run by The Pen.

On a separate note, I always prefer the Wing over the Pier, as I love watching the tarmac.
