Which Indian place are you thinking about?

This one here: http://www.saravanaabhavan.ca/

It is supposed to be quite decent. There aren't any places in YQR that do a Dosa, and I haven't had a really good one in YVR yet. I have been meaning to try the YVR location for a while, but I might just end up at the Mississauga one first.

It isn't by the Square One Mall, though, like I thought (it is on Hurontario Street). My knowledge of Mississauga is just a smidge above nil :)

That looks great. I've never been.

Depending on the day, I would be up for a visit. No problem to drive you - I live very close to YYZ.

Thanks for the kind offer. You may yet hear from me. I will be traveling with Mrs. Arf04 so we'll have to determine what we actually want to do. We aren't doing that trip until the end of August and will be through Pearson at least twice before then (though with tight connections), so it is hard to get too excited about the later trip.

And thanks TomVancouver for the suggestion. We are both keen runners (I am hoping to run my first marathon in September after having done a few halfs per year for the last few years) so am up for a run pretty much anytime. Thanks too for the offer of MLL passes. We are both E so have access. In fact, if friends and relatives don't use up our MLL passes before too long I'll be offering some up on FT as we have a pile of them.

This is an old post, but I found it searching for stuff on my home airport (YQR).

There are lots of interesting restaurants along Dixon Road, just east of the airport. There's an Outback Steak House which is quite good.

If you have tons of extra MLL passes let me know - I'll come pick some up :)

What about a 11-hour layover at YYZ?

I have an upcoming trip BOG-YYZ-GVA, with an 11-hr layover at YYZ between 7:00 and 18:00. I suppose I can use the AC lounge upon arrival (I'm *G traveling on paid J) to shower and have some breakfast, and am thinking of heading to town for lunch and a visit (and possibly meet up with a friend). Is this easy to do? In particular:

1. Is there a locker or baggage service to store my carry-on bag (backpack with laptop) at YYZ?
2. Is their an airport bus service - frequency & travel time?
3. What would you suggest I do and see in Toronto for the day?
4. Will I need to pay any extra airport taxes? (Years ago, YVR had some sort of airport improvement fee that was payble upon departure.)

Thanks!

I did a search, and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for, so thought I would tag on to this thread. My Brazilian GF's daughter (20 something) will arrive in Toronto in the morning, and depart for Sao Paulo late evening. She has never been to Toronto before and would like to see something of the city. So my GF asked for advice. This will be in early Nov while I will be at the Star Mega Do, so I won't be around to help.

My thoughts were to go downtown and check out the CN Tower, Eaton Centre, Dundas Square and Yorkville. Does anyone have additional or better suggestions?

In the past I've had a cousin come visit from the airport before continuing on his journey. I don't think he had much of an issue, but I guess it helped that someone was there to pick him up and drop him off. Also we were in the Brampton/Mississauga area so we it was close to the airport.

For a first time visitor to Toronto with only half-a-day, that seems the best itinerary. If the weather is bad (as it could be in Nov), she could stick mostly to the PATH.

Seeing as she is 20-something, I assume she is travelling on a budget. If she is travelling on a budget, she could take the Airport Rocket to the subway, then get off at Bloor/Yonge and slowly head southwards. In the evening, head back on the Yonge line up north to the Bloor line, and then back out to the airport. Or, she could grab one of the Airport Express hotel shuttles, if she has a little more cash.

Exactly what are the arrival and departure time? Which day of the week? budget for getting around? These will matter in terms of what she is able to do/see.
