Getting from YYZ to Downtown
Hey Guys,
I am visiting Toronto next week for the first time, and staying at the court yard marriott on yonge st. Could someone tell me the easiest way to get from YYZ to downtown? The train station I would be going it is College (right down the street from the marriott). Also is the best way to go? Thanks for any help! -Andrew |
I'm headed back to YYZ in a couple of weeks for a Red Sox - Blue Jays weekend... great town to visit, and I always use the Toronto Airport Express coach. Quick, comfortable, hits all the key hotels in the downtown core, and they run every 20 minutes. It's CAN$13.46 each way if you prebook via the Internet:

Public transit option
The TTC bus 192 (Airport Rocket) is an express to the Bloor subway Kipling Station and runs frequently. Then change at Yonge and go south to College. This is one cash fare, about $3. The Courtyard is north of College on Yonge.
Cabs are about $50. The previous post mentions the Airport Express bus. See it all at http://www.gtaa.com/en/travellers/ai...transportatio/ |
Some summary and corrections
You have three choices 1) Taxi or Limo, should be 50 or so tip included 2) Pacific Western Airport Express, unfortunately it does not stop at your hotel, if you're not lugging too much for bags you could get off at the Delta Chelsea and walk to the Courtyard, it's 1 1/2 long blocks up Yonge Street 3) Public Transit, not bad if traveling light, nasty with heavy bags, $2.75 cash fare, Canadian funds only, exact change or overpay, drivers do not make change, or they do now sell day passes at the Relay newstand at the airport, they were also selling tickets but the TTC abruptly pulled adult tickets off the market a couple weeks ago due to counterfeiting. It's a bit of a pain as you need to transfer from the 192 bus to the subway Bloor Line, then change subway trains to the Yonge Line getting off at College, where your Hotel is 1 short block NORTH of College Street. |
A variety of options are listed here http://www.toandfromtheairport.com/toronto.html.
The TTC (Rocket) bus + train works well at least if you have travel light and hit the schedule right. |

Will be flying into YYZ next month, staying at the Doubletree on Chestnut. Traveling with girlfriend and probably each have a checked bag. Any advice on best way to get to the hotel? Thanks in advance.

Door to door flat rate limo Shuttle coach to hotels downtown Public transit bus to subway and then downtown Airport website will have cost of first two. Public transit is $3 cash fare. |

Make that an Airport metred taxi. PS: getting from YYZ to my Toronto home is more expensive by metred taxi and they are hard to get at YYZ for late arrivals. |
Thanks for the help. I'm also wondering how difficult it is to use the public transportation options or if a bus/taxi is worth the extra cost.

You will need to take you luggage onto the bus, off the bus, down to the subway platform, up or down another platform for change in subway line then up from the platform to street level to your hotel.

Just did the 192 to TTC trip last week, the hardest part of the trip was finding the fare card machines at YYZ. It's pretty easy outside of that, just bring a book for the long TTC ride.
