VIA Rail pricing

Hi,
I'm planning a trip which'll see us land in Montreal and depart from Toronto at the end of October, and taking the train in-between. I checked the VIA rail website and I notice that tickets at that time are about the same price as tickets next week. But I see tickets in May-June (from exactly 30 days out) are cheaper. So, should I expect tickets price to decrease some time away from departure (2-3 months ?) before increasing again, i.e. am I looking too early, or can I assume they will only increase over time?
Thanks in advance

In my experience VIA Rail tends to not mess with their pricing too much on the corridor until somewhat close to the actual departure date. Tuesday discount codes as YYZ1313 mentioned are probably your best bet for snagging a ticket, but I would also suggest seeing if Megabus fits in your requirements. Make sure you check the destination, as there's one route that terminates at Toronto Union and another at Scarborough Centre.

In general, I prefer the train over the bus.

Hello,
Thanks for all the answers. We actually want to travel by train and our dates aren't really flexible as we booked some redemption flights in and out of Canada with limited choices. I checked the Tuesday discounts for the past couple of weeks and they seem to be mostly 10% on tickets not too far out. So, once I'm certain our dates won't change, I think we'll just book.
Thanks again

This is another vote for the CAA / AAA discount. If youre a member then call VIA. If not, roll the dice on the discount.
IMHO VIA passenger numbers have somewhat recovered but not to the level of the airlines. If you find it affordable, the business fares are worthwhile.
