Why would the departure screen at the gate not be updated with the new time?
The past couple times I've flown there's either been a delay or cancelation that was not updated in a timely fashion on the screens at the gate. Infact for my current flight I've known there is a delay since before I even left home to go to the airport, yet no one seems to acknowledge it even though it's obvious that not only are we not leaving at their posted time, we're probably not even leaving at the later revised time according to flight trackers.
Currently waiting for ws175. Info board at the gate says departure time is 8:30, but if I google the flight number or look at various websites it says 8:42 departure. However it's currently 8:20 and they just made the first zone 1 boarding announcement, and I'm guessing we'll actually leave closer to 9.
Update: it's now 8:42, and economy isn't even half boarded yet. EIA website still says 8:30.
Update 2: revised departure time is now 9:10 as per google. EIA has removed the flight from their website. Doors actually closed at 9:17.
Which I'm extra pissy about because 1. I was supposed to be on a 5:15 flight that got cancelled, a flight which I paid a premium to be on as opposed to this cheaper, later itinerary. Also I was supposed to be traveling with a friend and her babies, but we got rebooked on different flights when the 5:15 was cancelled. And 2. The check in agent gave me sass about being close to the baggage cutoff, when there was only a single person working the priority line and she was the most inefficient person I've ever met.
Same thing happened a couple weeks ago, we found out our flight was cancelled because I saw the flight crew walk off after timing out, so I googled it and sure enough it was cancelled. The sign board took a good 15 minutes to update with that info, and I only think they bothered because people were starting to form a mob.
On another another flight they waited until everyone had boarded and then announced that there was a 2 hour delay. Had we been googling it, instead of in a panniked rush to make the original time, we would have been able to sleep in or at least enjoy the airport more. I think this delay was definitely known ahead of time (it was due to the strikes at CDG on a flight heading there. It wasn't a generalized chaos delay, it was a known schedule change).
Like, I almost feel it's intentional at this point and that information is being withheld. It's like every freaking flight. It's not just a 10 or 15 minute delay, between when the delay is first known and when they're posted. It feels like a coordinated effort to avoid IDK, compensation, angry passengers, people wandering off.

That's enough time to turn the plane around.
Various sites get their information from different sources.
Hence the difference in information.
If dispatch hasn't acknowledged the delay, the time at the gate won't have changed.
